Ok, after about 6-7 weeks of work, I finished up on the baby's room today. It has been exhausting work and taken up alot of my free time, but it was completely worth it. I took alot of pride in doing this. This pregnancy has been a struggle for Ms. Codell (shes due any day now) and after 3 miscarriages and all the problems she has had, this was the least I could do for our baby and for my wife. I am really excited because I am the youngest male in my family's line and I was concerned that my family's last name would not be carried on (there are no other males in our blood line besides my brother and he is not having kids). Also, mainly, because my wife and I believe this to be a miracle baby. For years, the doctors have told my wife that she had a slim chance of every carrying a baby full term and now, he is on target to be a healthy and happy full term baby. I wanted to get everyone's opinion on how it turned out (my best friend lives elsewhere and is netless and my other two friends are out of the country, so I have no one to show this to ). Here is the link: http://pages.sbcglobal.net/codell74/jacksroom.html There is a ton of narration on the page (looks like a MacBeth post), so I won't be offended if ya'll don't want to read the whole thing. Just skim through to all the photos and let me know what you think. Thanks!
I love it!!! Will you come renovate my room?? we picked out the same bed cover for my son's crib...the same sports bear theme.
Awesome!! That was like watching an episode of "This Old House." I love the inventive pocket door solution. Not to mention, the room looks fantastic. Mrs. Codell is a lucky gal, and I'm sure baby Codell will feel right at home in his very special room. I wish you guys the best of luck for a continued healthy pregnancy and delivery.
It looks reeeaally good, codell. Very nice work! I like the theme as well. Looks like you will be raising him right...as a good Houston sports fan! BTW, where did you get those stadium replicas? Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go search your website for a pic to photoshop.
Yeah, I gotta admit, I love those pictures of the stadiums above the crib. Great choice! Now you have to decide which balls (football, basketball, baseball, or hockey puck, not that there's anything wrong with it) that you will hang above the crib.
so Jack is going to be his second name, goes well with Smeg i guess great stuff Codell, well done i just spent the weekend removing tiles in my bathroom and replacing them
Nice job. The photos of the Astrodome will come in handy when you try to explain to him what used to be on the parking lot next to Reliant Stadium in the near future.
Good job and congratulations on the baby boy! I wish you and your wife the best of luck and good times.
MadMax: Sorry to say that I won't be tackling a project like that again for a while. I might help if the price is right though. The sheets were cool. I wish we could have found something more basketball related though. Mrs.JB: More like this Old House Bloopers. Bob Villa would be ashamed of my methods. Screw him and his khakis! BTW, one of those framed photos is from Houstonarena2003.com. Please tell Jeff to forgive me. IMA: Check out www.danburymintsports.com . The stadium replicas they produce are bad ass (there are some other companies that do them too but they aren't nearly as good in quality or likeness). Alot of other cool stuff on there too. They stopped selling Enron Field a few months ago. Not sure if its coming back. The Astrodome is still there and Reliant Stadium should be out any day now (Ford Field and Gillette Stadium came out the last few weeks). I ordered this one a few weeks ago: Mr. Mooch: I have been looking for some small basketballs, baseballs and footballs to put on that mobile but haven't found any. Smeg: We were thinking of naming him "Foster" in your honor. Pimp and Franchise: Thanks for the well wishes PSJ: Thanks for the nice comments. Makes me feel good. Faos: Really. My wife and I are both tall. He is going to be big, that much we know.
Wow. What a fantastic job! Now I feel totally inadequate. Have good fortune as a Daddy... there is nothing like it. Best to your wife, sounds like she's been through the wringer.
well done codell. Hope your wife is feeling well. I'm gonna start soon on redoing my bathroom. Ill be sure to post pics like you on the progress but i doubt ill do such an intensive write-up.
Nice work! I especially like the color of the room. Good luck on the delivery..hope everything goes smoothly.
Looks nice! Good luck with Jack. I'm sure down the road he and my son will chase women together as he looks like he'll be a cool little fella. 'Stros from birth - don't give him a choice!
codell, the room is badarse, man. lucky kid. the only suggestion that i would have made was to put the new rockets logo somewhere on the wall, but that might scare the baby. hell... it scares me.
Wow! You did a great job with the room there Codell, it looks really nice. That link you provided must have taken a good amount of time too, extesive.
