I know it is a little premature to start talking about signing Chris Webber, and drafting players that still have collegiate careers to finish, but I am fairly excited with some of the rumblings I've heard as of late. Hopefully the Rockets will sign C-Webb, and all Kelvin Cato has to do is play defense. (Hopefully thats not too much to ask). I would definitely like to see the Rockets draft a small forward to play defense, and a center to play defense. If the Rockets can pull that off (which is a lot) I definitely think the Rockets are playoff ready. I refuse to say contender because of two things. One, the fact that Cuttino needs to come off of the bench. I have no ill will toward Cuttino, but he is our sparkplug off the bench. And two, the Rockets need playoff experience. Experience wins championships. In the draft I think the Rockets will have three first round picks? ( I have to check Juan Valdez's site). They should be able to pick up a good rebounding big man, and hopefully Terrence Morris ( he is rated low right now, but I definitely think he will not last past the 20th pick. I just know I will be crossing my fingers hoping that it falls in place for the Rockets. ------------------
I suspect Cato will be gone in any deal for a PF (CWebb). Walt will also probably have to go... Just for caproom, I think. Chris Webber will not come for free. ------------------
Anyone who takes Cato and Walt off our hands will be doing us a favor. ------------------ Kenny Thomas had a foul called on him in the Western Conference Finals.
