For the sake of making this interesting, would any of your answers change if he left before game 7 of the world series?
For me, nope. Wouldn't bother me one bit. I can understand why it would others. I'm just not as life-and-death with this stuff as I used to be.
The sickening part is we can't even send other players to catch this baby when it comes out. Lowrie would drop it. Conger and Rasmus might catch it, but both would likely throw it wildly into the netting or center. Hinch would put on a shift and the baby would hit the floor. We're lucky this baby was even born because most of the Astros never get past third base.
Nah... although I'm sure some fans in here would claim to miss the birth of their first born just so they could attend.
Absolutely no issue with that. It's a personal decision for him and his wife to decide, and I think he obviously made the right choice. Go catch that baby and then come back ready to close out this season!
Grats to him. The game is entertainment for other people. He gets a night off as it's one of the most important days of his (and his wife's) life.

Real professional ballplayers know to only sex up their wives from February to June. Gotta plan ahead.
No brainer for Gregerson, wath his baby born, or watch the astros lose, easy choice. He would say, they won't need me anymore, we are not going to win, right? We are playing on the road.
No problem with Gregerson leaving, but this explains the blowouts the past 2 games. Keuchel and Co were making sure his services weren't needed by getting their asses spanked. Team was too young to realize they could do the spanking to relieve Luke.
Barring an emergency, the reality is they would either work to delay labor, or induce on an off day. That would be fun though.
i'm gonna go ahead and amend my stance. i don't even have close to a problem with him leaving to see the birth of his child. would not even dream of questioning it. assuming the baby is healthy though (and heck, he missed the actual birth), i have a pretty big problem with him missing 3, maybe 4 games at this point in the season. it's excessive. i would think the guy would want to be back.
