This would be kind of a stupid trade becuz then we would be over the limit and wed have to be paying luxury taxes... then when it comes to giving mobley and yao extensions we are going to be paying luxury taxes and as it seems the wallet seems tight for rockets to be paying luxury tax..

Oh well. SO much for the anticipation of a move by the rockets. LA and Dallas are really loading up on Talent.

Everybody is loading up on talent, but we already are loaded on talent. If all works out we are strong at every position. Don't forget all those analysts last year saying Nachbar was the most NBA ready player in the draft before he did not play. We've got to give the guy a chance, in real games. JVG may well turn E.G. into a Camby, and he will install an offense where everyone doesn't stand around with their fingers in their asses while one man takes on the whole team. Yao has to come back stronger than last year, and we need to figure some way out to keep the Chinamen from bleeding him dry, and we have it made.

There are 50 million reasons GS 'did' this deal...50 million fewer committed $$$s than Dallas is taking on.

Oh, BTW, Dallas gets an expiring contract to parley into a Feb acquisition, to boot!

Suggesting that the Rockets are better than the Mavs is an exercise in fantasy thinking. Not even close. My word, people, get real. And the Mavs just got better with Jamison. And the Rockets, well, we got JVG. Did anyone on this board watch the Rocket's games last year? Is there some sort of collective memory "blackout" going on? We now have threads on the Rockets are better than Dallas? What next? We will sweep the Lakers in the finals?! Message to Rockets and fans: GET SOME QUALITY FORWARDS BEFORE THE SEASON STARTS!!!!!! OR PREPARE FOR A LOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG EMBARASSING SEASON!
Our hope is in Nashbar???!!! He got "smoked" in the SUMMER LEAGUES!! Rice and Taylor are going to start? Holy Smoke, people! If Dirk had stayed healthy, Dallas would be your current NBA champions. And we are better?

I think you need to read the thread again. No one has said that. The title means we could do better than Dallas in offering GSW a trade...not that we're better than the Mavs...

The entire league could do better than Dallas. I'm still wondering why Golden State did this. NVE will be better than Arenas, but is he a bigger upgrade than Jamison is over Dunleavy?

Golden State should've tried to trade Jamison for Walker. Walker only has 2 seasons left, and is better suited to the SF position than Jamison.

AMEN then when they do make a trade all you are going to here is "why are they getting rid of such a good player. we need him for a championship"

We have the worst pair of starting forwards and group of forwards in the whole league--when do not have close to a complete line-up.

We do have a great young guard who we have troubling finding his right role for the team, a phenomenal talent at C, and one more very good all around player who position might be the ideal position for one of our two prime talets. But we have almost zilch after these guys.

Some we have some talents in 3 core players. But outside that we have atrocious players in terms of NBA starting material. Of these EG provides modest hope to be a decent starter some day but last year did not look good, and or other top pick (Boki) is already 22/23 and was AWAL against summer leagues scrubs and has shown nothing to prove he is not just a long shot to ever be a servicable NBA player.

I would have never said another word about Posey if we would have pulled a Rice + Boki for Jamison trade. That should have been a whole lot better from GS's perspective, and man what difference it would make for us. If we don't make a major move before the season starts for a quality 3 or 4 it is going to be very depressing to be a fan of team that Les owns. I am starting to think we have no reasonable right to be as good as we are--we basically just lucked into two of the top 5 NBA gifts in the last few years (Yao/SF).

I don't have faith in the way Les has spent money post lucking into Yao--this is true.

I have a lot of faith in Yao, solid faith in Mobley and Francis--but sorry no other Rockets are worth faith in and I am sorry, now matter what they do next year Les and Co has not brought in the kinds of players needed to lessen their PT and weight.

And no, not after a Dream team--just looking for 3-4 solid NBA role players to support our immensly talented trifecta. We had atleast 1 such guys at all times last year in KT and JP, and they are gone so we are left with no servicable starting/6th man caliber players, let alone the 3-4 we should aim for. It is consistently amazing to me more people are not troubled 1) we have not tried to upgrade one of our forward spots, 2) got older, & 3) got cheaper all at the same time.

To me except for JVG it has been an extremely dissappoiting offseason. Just needed baby steps forward, but getting older, cheaper, and lesser in our starting 5 isn't it.

Excuse me!? Dirk can shoot...what else can he do? He cant play defense and he cant move well...all he ever does is be a soft 7 footer shooting 15 feet and beyond.
