Albert Pujols is facing a two game suspension for his part in a brawl. He is waiting to have an appeal heard. Obviously, the Cardinals don't want him to miss any key games against the Astros or Cubs and would thus like to see the suspension reduced to 1 or 0 games. All than being said, Pujols was out of the lineup with flu-like symptoms last night (Sunday) and the Cardinals play the Pirates starting Tuesday. It is absolutely amazing to me that Pujols did not accept his suspension since he sat out Sunday anyway and then he could miss the first Pirates game and be done with it.

But he will be sidelined a minimum of two more weeks after spraining his left ankle when he fell and rolled his ankle jumping down some stairs at the team hotel as he ran to try and catch the elevator. clearly Matt Morris was not thinking correctly. i freaking can't stand the cardinals.
It was a last-second scratch.... I'm guessing there's a procedure you have to go through to drop an appeal and it's possible they didn't have the time to really worry about it?
I had read on the ESPN web site Sunday morning (before 10:00 AM) that he wouldn't be playing Sunday night. Perhaps because it was a Sunday there may have been a problem with dropping hte appeal. Incidentally, it is ridiculous how long baseball allows the appeals process to drag on. The suspension was for an incident from JULY 12th!
