just another quick question...are you given the same amount of salary cap room every week?
assuming the values of players change weekly depending on matchups and what not.

You always get the same salary. Only player salaries vary.

Pro Tip: Salaries are set for the week and not adjusted so usually when injury info comes in, you can take advantage of this to select a player who may have more value. For instance this week Tyrod Taylor is still dirt cheap despite being the starter in Buffalo.

I remember when moe originally posted this thread. I signed up shortly after since fanduel gave me like $20 for the $80 I put in.

Never really did that much on the site though. Still rolling with that original $80 and it's about there still ... mostly losses, a couple of wins.

My issue, and I'm curious if others feel the same way, is that i don't really dig the salary cap aspect. Clearly most seem to like it... I guess it adds to that armchair GM thing.

I'd rather have a site where the competitions would be something like choose the top 10 receivers for week 1 of the NFL (catches, yards, TDs... a grading system), in order. A bunch of others like that. Top 5 point scorers in the NBA tonight, plus guess the number of points they score. All kinds of things like that, but without the salary cap component. Same idea as Fanduel/DraftKings... just different set-up.

Does that appeal to anyone else more??

I like the idea, but I think in that case you'd see a ton of entries with identical lineups.

So how has everyone done now that we a couple of years in? And what have you learned?

With all the commercials, I'm more interested. I want to play. I want to play against ESPN. I know nothing. Given interest, but how do you know they are not staking the leagues against you. For example, if it's me against 11 computer teams I would think the system is rigged to beat me in odds alone. Yes. I could still win. But on the surface it would seem an algorythym could be used to reduce my chances, intentionally undercut me, or who knows. So that keeps me from playing.

Interested to see what folks have learned and how u've done.

Its a lot easier to win in the early weeks when the algorithms don't have enough data yet.

Kind of ridiculous how much this has been paraded around lately by NFL/ESPN when it is the exact same thing as sports gambling. At least Adam Silver has publicly supported legalization of gambling. Meanwhile Goodell rakes in the DFS money, while calling gambling "immoral". Hypocrite.
