If Parsons becomes a restricted free agent, are the Rockets allowed to sign-and-trade him? If the Rockets sign him outright, is there a period before they are allowed to trade him?

Being confident that they'll be moved this offseason is logical given what's happened. But it just seems so hard to be able to trade both of them; or, rather, it seems so hard for them to be able to trade them both and "win" the trade(s). Maybe at this point we don't have to win the trade so long as we get a third star, but for whatever reason I'm still less than 50% sure that we'll trade both of them.

If we move both and end up signing somebody worth the max because we moved both players, you could say we "traded" Lin and Asik for whomever this max contract player is. That would be a win in my book, even if it did cost us a few picks, or if we had to throw in other players with "potential".

I was expecting a big "splash"-like announcement upon reading the headline. Boo! Haha, still excited for the upcoming weeks nonetheless.

The key to this whole thing is still getting a top free agent to want to play in Houston. The Rockets have a pretty good situation but they are not the only good team out there and the top guys will be chased by every team who either have cap room or can create cap room just like the Rockets think they can.

So, the question I wonder about is this:

How much do Melo, Bosh, Lebron, Lowry, etc. want to play with Harden and Howard compared to all of their other options?

How many teams are out there that are championship contenders next season with the addition of another superstar and have the ability to add that superstar??

    Houston?

    Possibly Chicago??

Is there another team that could become a championship contender by either signing or trading for a third superstar????

So, if a superstar really wants the best shot at winning a championship next season ..... the choices are very limited.

They probably have deals they would accept if they also get a third allstar. I doubt they would trade and then rill the dice on possibly getting to sign someone. We all know Morey could have traded Asik if he wanted to accept less than face value.

A max player per season for three consecutive seasons... hard not to get behind that.
