I never like a player to go to the IL, but offensively, his bat wont be missed. Maybe even better without him, as sad as that is to say. There is no other season where I would say this. Personally, I think Altuve's psyche is suffering more than his knee is. I just hope he is right in 2021.
Toro and Mayfield are garbage, granted. Diaz gives you 72pts more OPS. A upgrade, if only slight. Altuve has the lowest WAR on the team by double? Geeez. https://www.espn.com/mlb/team/stats/_/name/hou/table/batting/sort/WARBR/dir/asc
with DIaz back this will no longer be the case. We can put him at 2nd and breg at 3rd . I would like tuve back at 100 percent tho. Just because he hasnt gotten it going doesnt mean he wont. He showed a flash here or there .
Karma, like religion, is for the weak. **** happens. We have no control over it and never will, no matter how much we pray or meditate or hope. The only thing that would've helped is a normal spring training, and even that is no guarantee.
Reputation and past performance doesn't win you games. Only your current self does. I think the days off, even if the injury isn't severe, can at least give Altuve time to reset his mind. Even with Mayfield and Toro being bad at the plate, and Diaz mediocre, it's not much of a downgrade in terms of hitting production. Just hope he can get it back together next year, or else that contract will turn into an albatross.
