On Springer, it was said that he took it harder than most of his teammates. Time has a way of healing things though. It likely won't be the only criteria in his decision so we will never know how big a role it had unless it becomes clear he rejected a superior offer from the Astros to play on the west coast.
What bugs me about this, isn't Springers feelings towards the cheating scandal. It's the Astros not offering him a long-term contract so far. Was there any reason why they didn't prior to this year? I can't recall honestly.
He was very good in the first ~60% of last season but then fell apart and was garbage. I think he's been hurt this year.
And you know this isn't the case how? The Astros offered him a long term contract before he even set foot in the big leagues. Also, Click said it was something they were going to try and work on before the season. There was also a freeze on any signings from when spring training was shut down until the summer camp started.
The Astros have brought up long term contracts before. Not sure if there was ever a formal offer except maybe when he was in the minors or first year or 2.
Well, they did lose the 17 and 18 WS, and lost in the NLDS last year. They need to win something this year, otherwise bye bye manager. They're going for the kill, just like we tried last year when we added Greinke to a ridiculous pitching staff. You can never assume in baseball!
They are still looking for recent World Series Rings. Every time they check Amazon they see they are unavailable for purchase.
And you can make the same joke about the Yankees. Amazon finally removed them from the "Available for Purchase" list this decade. Can't buy them like they used to.
