I know there are at least a few ZoneAlarm users on the BBS and I just had a question. In my internet alerts section I find two ip's pinging me a LOT. I ran trace route and one of them traces to friggin Poland. Is ZoneAlarm good enough to protect against persistent hackers or are there further steps I should take/programs I should use? ------------------ The death penalty SUCKS.
Zone Alarm doesn't allow anyone access... It doesn't even allow my own dsl router to talk to my computer sometimes.. It doesn't affect connection or performance, it just pops up a warning window saying that my router (it shows it's IP number) wants to talk to the computer and it asks me for permission. I highly recommend ZA. I've never used the free version, I went all out and bought the big one, the one that costs like $30. I've never felt more safe than when I installed that, especially after all the stuff it stops from getting to you. I've had some bizarre pings and requests...one thing I have noticed is that since I've gotten my router, I get ALOT less pings and requests from outside sources to my computer. Zone Alarm has some really great features, including allowing you to do trace routes and whois functions when you are ping'ed... I highly recommend it to anyone with broadband, dsl or cable....you'll be surprised at how many times other computers want access to your ports. Oh... and to answer your question. I think ZA alone should be enough... but if you really want answers try going to http://www.dslreports.com and go to their community section and go to the security forum.
