You're right. If the Rockets knew that they would have Yao Ming in 1 more year, then they would've kept Jefferson and Collins. As far as they could see, we had Steve and Cat, and the whole future ahead of us. So they wanted to add another youngen into the mix for the better of a future for our wonderful Houston franchise.
A hope on him to become a HORRY type of player is a very reasonable and attainable hope IMHO. What's wrong with Horry, a great ROLE player who has been known for his clutchiness ? But, at times, it made me laugh inside when rose colored fans still count him to become Rasheed Wallace type of star. With Yao and Francis aboard, having a GOOD role players who know their tasks and limitations would be more valuable IMHO
I think he is going to be great. Look at J O'Neal it took him like 5 years before he started to pick up his game. You people seem to forget how well Griffin played at Seton Hall, if Griffin would have stayed in College his team might be the #1 team in the country. Griffin is 20 years old right now, two years youger than Yao. Put it this way in 2 years Griffin will be Yao's age and will be putting up better numbers than Yao was at the same age.
it will be good that EG develop into a capable shooter in the future. We have Cat, Francis and Ming to cover most of the scoring, so as long as Eddie can knock those open shots down, we will be good.... and he can carry on rebounding and blocking shots, EG will be a good fit then..... the chance is still there for him to shine.... maybe one more summer will be what he need?
Eddie is way too soft. Dude needs to bulk up, get 1/2 of an attitude, display some emotion, and quit shooting 3's. He's only 20, but starting to develop some bad habits.
Ugly, flat, line drive laser shot will never work in the NBA. I don't know how the scouts missed this, and I'm even more puzzled that he still refuses to put some arc on his shot. Aren't the coaches working with him on this?

I am disappointed in EG. I had hoped he would be better off by now. I know he is young, but I do not see all the potential that the coaches had talked about. But then again, maybe that is why I am not an NBA Scout. His shot is so ugly though.
Some good points, we haven't seen EG in the playoffs yet. He may surprise everyone once he gets a taste. I hope he works on that flat jumper he's got.
I think people's expectations for EG were way too high at the start. The guy should have stayed in college where he could have developed more of an inside game. I think in a few years you'll see all the potential being realized. He was not drafted to be an immediate force. The time frame has always and still is 3 to 4 years for him to develop.
