Hey Dems, What was the breakdown of your precinct's caucus? In mine in far NW Harris County it was 75% Obama, 25% Clinton. (I ended up being an Obama precinct delegate...)
I wasn't able to stay until the full count, but it looked like about 3:1 Obama. The interesting thing - this is a very Republican area of Austin (Westlake), and the previous caucus in 2004 had 6 (yes, six) people. We had about 500 tonight. Was a pretty interesting experience.
BTW, the caucus forms are not due until MARCH 7th by 5 PM! If CNN or anyone else attempts to project the caucus delegates, I wouldn't necessarily believe it.
i voted dem this year. Holy **** was my thingie unorganized. or it felt like it. I waited tooo damn long. I'm in northwest houston, and i want to say it was 2.5 to 1 for Obama. I saw maybe two and half more obama backers than hill backers. In a way, I am glad that it was crowded. I am glad people are out and voting and give a damn.
I arrived at my precinct polling place at 6:45, I got home at 11:20. It was a HUGE mess. No one knew what they were doing. IIRC, it was 306 Obama supporters 131 Clinton. Our precinct had 35 delegates and 21 of those went to Obama 14 went to Hillary.
Oak Forest just NW of 610 loop: 18 Clinton; 13 Obama This is with maybe a fourth of the people that started the night though. Poorly managed to say the least.
I stay in the homestead area and it was only 7 people for hillary and about 300 or 400 people for obamma.
How do I find out for my precinct? I didn't go last night because I knew it would be a mess. My mother and sister went. They went like at 7pm and didn't get home until 11pm.
When you consider the popular vote in relation to the caucus turnout, the grass-roots oranizing by Obama is superb. If/when he gets the nomination, it is this kind of grass-roots strength that will win the general election.
Fine you don't buy what happened last night at my polling precinct. As a former undecided voter, last night's caucus made me realize that Obama's supporters were trying to intimidate and cheat! I saw it FIRST HAND! I repeat..I wasn't even a former Clinton supporter in the past. However, what happened to me last night made me realize that I have no choice but to support Hillary Clinton.
Based on your numbers, there were quite a lot of Clinton supporters signed in and left. Why was that?
I can give you several examples of people being intimidated. This one elderly couple that waited could not stand. But Obama people were sitting on some chairs and wouldn't offer them to sit down. So the white elderly couple left because they couldn't wait any longer. Many were frustrated and didn't want to deal with the loud and obnoxious crowd while they were starting their Yes we can chants. There was a spanish couple that couldnt speak great english but fortunately had some spanish speakers. I had overheard one of them saying they didn't want to stay because they feared something was going to happen. Obama's grassroots was in force - I'll give them that. However, in my area, they were rude, they wouldn't let you near them and were at times condescending towards Hillary supporters.
