http://sports.sina.com.cn/k/2003-01-22/1336383818.shtml He insisted that he was NOT tired. he was just out of rhythm. i think he was being a little goofy. when asked how he felt about being contained by LaFrentz. He did not give a damn about it... he just said: "wait and see in the next time".
I hope that's true because he can sure use a little attitude. Somehow I dont think it's a coincedence that Yao and the Rockets play better on national TV. The next time they play Dallas, it'll be at home, on ESPN. I'll place my bets on us January 29th.
Yao needs a serious attitude change. Yao should stop playing small. He needs to play big and mean. There is no place for him to be nice on the basketball court. I wish Yao had a little Cato in him.
Although we are all sad and mad for the loss, here's some postgame quotes to bring a bit joy. Mavs Head Coach Don Nelson On Raef’s job guarding Yao Ming: Raef was terrific (5 blocks) and we gave him some support on double teams of Yao. Mainly he played by himself and really rose to the occasion. I thought Yao played like a rookie, which he is supposed to do sometimes and it is a learning process for him. Let’s not forget when Nowitzki was a rookie how he struggled and I am sure Yao is going through the same things. He is soon to be a great, great player. And this is, my fellow fans, the opinion of an NBA coach, not polypheus. Rockets Head Coach Rudy Tomjanovich On if Yao Ming is tired and that is leading to mistakes: I think he is tired. Just talking with the coaches, we think he should take the next two days off and rest. He is not a mistake player, and he had five turnovers in 22 minutes, which is a lot for him. This is a tough league for everybody, but what he has gone through, I think he needs to get his batter recharged and I think it will start happening again.
Players rarely admit that they are tired. I am with Rudy on this one. The way Yao played the last two games makes Shawn Bradley look like a superstar.
Get a clue. A True Warrior NEVER admits pain, talks about being tired or make excuses. If Yao started talking about how fatigued he was, he would be totally dissed by the rest of the team and players in the league!
You're right. But Yao has hit a rookie wall now. His rhythm is off. Not sure he want's to admit it. But, next year. The "I'm tired" excuse wont fly. And Rudy needs to stop making excuses for his players..."He was tired..." Boo-hoo! Sorry Rudy. That wont work next year. If Yao wants to be a great player he has to learn consistency. Hell, Francis hasn't even learned that!
Saying your tried is an excuse for a lot of things... Person A: Hey John. What's wrong? You haven't been yourself lately. Person B: Oh, nothing. I'm just tired. In reality, Yao could be homesick, missing his GF, or has hit the rook wall.
Yao really shouldn't live with his parents any more. Come on, man, you are 22 and should be able to take care of everything alone.
When financially able to do so, a young men should step out and learn to live on his own. I mean half the 18 year olds in this country go off to college and live on their own, Yao's 22, that's old enough to be by yourself. But hey, he's Chinese and it's cultural thing. I know my mom still entertains the idea of me moving back home and paying part of the rent after I graduate.
This is what I am always saying to myself when watching the games. Yao needs to dunk more...be more agressive. When hes getting blocked by Raef on those weak layup attempts I wonder why not just dunk it!!!??? Then at least if he blocks it you got a decent chance at getting a foul call and converting points that way.
xuxj:- Remember this is America, a Country full of permissive immorality. His parents are here to protect Yao Ming from all that ills our country.
haha....is that a sarcastic statement? i hope it is because if it isn't then it is just absurd. i'm pretty sure drugs and hookers come a lot cheaper in china. i know they do in taiwan from what this one kid tells me who grew up there. i don't think yao is just going to suddenly start smoking bud and banging transsexuals after he dyes his hair purple. the guy is a grown man he doesn't need any protection. did anyone ever think that maybe yao's parents wanted to come to America too?
What would you like Rudy to do? Just call out his players in front of the media and embarrass them? Any good coach is going to protect his players.
