Folks let's not lie just because some of us don't like, Cato. he could be a dominant guy if he went about it the right way, someone else said it best that if he had a Ben Wallace attitude he would dominate (paraphrased).

exactly. cato's one big and strong mofo. now if he had said something like, "i can't believe how nice cato's turnaround is," then we might have something.

i posted this in another thread, cato made some comments today about how he was impressed with ming and that he has the ability to live up to the hype. also mentioned that ming blocked collier's hookshot which is apparently difficult.

Many of you have mentioned the effects this will have on Yao but will having Yao around be any kind of positive influence on Kelvin Cato? I think so, I can forsee the Rocket's having a two headed monster at center until Yao begins to dominate;) Anyway, all the pressure is off Cato now and he can just focus on playing basketball. I see good things in the Rox future.

I don't know if the Rockets are keeping track with the ethnicity or whoever is buying tickets. I did mine over the phone, and they never asked me.

I remember a few years ago Mo Taylor, Shandon Anversen, and others came out to Alief cause the Rocks tried to sell the cheap seats to the Asian community. Not really much fanfare then, not enough time to do that again.

You got to remember, uppermiddleclass Houston is fickle in general when it comes to hoops attendance. The economy isn't helping. Winning would help a lot.

What has impressed me about Yao is his ability to play up to any level of competition. In the WBC tournament, he bodied up against Dale Davis and Ben Wallace and stood his ground. He was not pushed around like a rag doll, he was a very effective player against a team that doubled him nearly every time he touched the ball (and still had 16 points). How many teams have stronger centers than Dale Davis and Ben Wallace? Yao should flourish in the absence of talented centers in this league.

Yao does not even really need to be dominant in order to help our team. All he has to do is draw a double team occasionally. Who are they going to double off of? If you come off of Francis, Mobley, or Rice, and it will rain 3s. If you come off Griffin, Taylor, or KT, its a dunk. Yao can pass like nobody's business as evidenced by his performance at WBC.

man, i just thought that was a funny comment. all of you get so bent out of shape when any comment that is interpreted as the slightest bit negative is posted on this board.

personally, while i certainly don't think he is a capable starter, i think cato is a great backup center to have in the nba.

I just think Cato has undeveloped hands...that sounds kinda funny huh.:D

He's like one of those dinosaurs with big bodies and little bitty hands.

Yao said that because he had no compliments besides that. He could have said, "I'm here to replace you, little man."
