Yao Ming so far is a poor rebounder (for his size). Part of the problem, I think, is he doesn'tmove his feet towards ball quick enough. I don't know if its slow reaction to ball or not. A lot of times, he can reach out to tip the ball, often in bad balance, but He's not truly in a good position to snatch the ball right away.

Don't just blame everything on culture, Chinese player (training) etc.

Well, only MALE Shanghainese have that reputation. The female are known for their determindation and aggresiveness.

Yao was a senior in China's NT, but a junior with the Rockets. You don't tell your olders how to play. That's true everywhere.

Agree. No doubt Yao can be a leader. But it needs time.

Man ,some of you guys are crazy. that's nothing to do with culture here. only attitude, Yaos problem is he is a thinking-and-action guy. when his mind is messed up esp when he play with a team like MAV, he got lost. Imaging u are a guy just like yao playing on court. what u see are long rebounds which u cannot catch, double teams when u got ur ball, outside attack too far to defend. I am pretty sure he need some direction at that very moment. The coach should tell him what to do with that.

I wouldn't say Yao doesn't give 110%. I think he definitely works hard on the court. But I wanna see him get more aggressive and become a warrior on the court.

I tell you what, even Spurs fans could get away with calling Yao soft right now and I'd have to take it.

He started the night shooting 1-for-4 in the first quarter, mostly settling for short jumpers. But he also missed badly on a nifty drive from the left side of the hoop where he tried a reverse layup. When the Mavericks went almost exclusively to their zone in the third quarter, he shot 0-for-4.

"What I saw was him getting a lot of Yao Ming shots," Francis said. "On a lot of nights, those shots go down. I think there are times when he should turn around and just dunk the ball. A lot."

Yao definetly gave it his 110% last night. The poor guy was so frustrated all night by the Zone, it even made him post up on the wrong side of the court. Yao has lot's of skills, I just wish he would toughen up. Because what is being said about Yao being soft sure is true right now. I really wish he would take it in hard.

I love how we've only played six or seven games into the season and people are saying it's the coaches fault, when, truthfully, you can't really know how effective a coach or an assistant coach is until halfway through the season or later.
