Stats Yao made 12 of 13 freethrows tonite. he has become a fine shooter from the line. his percentage for the season is better than that of James, Padgett & T-MAC !
Yao's always been good from the line... as was pointed out here, he's actually on the decline a bit. But it is interesting to note that he's ahead of those three. I could see any of them -- particularly McGrady -- being called to shoot a 'T', but not likely to see Yao doing it. Actually we usually see Wesley or Howard if memory serves.
yeah even if he had the highest % on the floor at that given time he probably wouldnt get it becuase of tradition.
I think David Wesley is by far the clutchest freethrow shooter in the team... while Sura is ........ KH
I'll take JB followed by DWes. Both of them are great but I think JB has slightly more ice water in his veins. Or, I'd just take my chances with TMac. Good thing is, we have people that can knock 'em down at the end of games. We'll need that in the playoffs.
I think it's the heavy elbow pad that messed up his touch in the beginning of the year. He's starting to get the feel of his shooting touch more and more which is great news for us in the playoffs!
One of the few positives I will say about him, but 'spoon is a pretty good FT shooter too. At the end of games we could put a number of good FTers out there with Wesley, Barry, TMac, 'spoon, and Yao.
LOL! I was thinking the same thing... Well, may be he is a new Rockets fan, and hasn't watched Yao the past couple of years. In fact, if anything, his FT% has slightly regressed since the first couple of seasons
Last year he made like 32 in a row, unheard of for a big man. I think 80%+ qualifies as a good-very good FT% and he is less than that this year.
I want to see Yao taking more jump shots like he did last year and the year before. He is good at making those and he can stretch out the opponent defense that way..
It seems like he started doing that a couple of months ago when the Rockets were starting to really play well. it's stopped though=(
I think Yao could not jump well now he has nagging pain and injury on his legs, so he probably avoid taking a jumper now.
What about "stand-still"-jump-shot for Yao from 18 feet? That kind of open shot looks free throw to him.
