Fantastic post Doc! You have most eloquently explained Yao Ming in language so clear even those who read in crayon can understand it. Bravo!

Without passion, I say that yes, I think a new coach would be better for everyone. I just really do NOT like to see Yao have to go and defend 18 feet from the basket and then get back following the guard. I just innately do NOT like the whole '5 man team' concept.

I understand what JVG is trying to do but it's not reality when you have TMAC and Yao on your team. Deke, JB, Wesley, Jim J, Lue, Ward, whoever should not get the ball as much as those 2 - period! So, to include Yao as a team 'component' I believe, is the wrong approach! Yao is special and should be force-fed the ball until his foundation in NBA game-mentality and attack fundamentals are instinctive! Then, and only then, do you set your goal as NBA champions.

Okay, I know Clutch uses the label, but can all others just quit using the stupid "YOF" label, please?

I don't want to break up the Doc party...but drawing doubles?? When? They're playing zone defense, but people use the zone to affect every borderline legit post player. I'm not seeing double-teams, in particular. I'm seeing the zone...and I'm seeing the collapse down low that we see with that. I'm watching these games...and I'm not seeing it translating into open shots like it did with that other post man we had who drew legit double-teams.

I think this is the main reason Yao only averages 7 boards a game, cause he is always running around in the zone after the guards. I know KG does this routinely, but he is fast enough to get back and get the rebound.......Yao is not, and has to rely on our forwards to get the board or the block, which doesnt always happen......

why? how else should we describe them? I agree..I don't really like the 'only' part in the label. We take that out and it becomes YF, or Yao Fan. I think thats much better but its still not good enough..it needs to be more clear.

    what do you think?

I have a real hard time taking Doc's posts seriously, cause I always have the feeling he's just posting to stir the pot, or leave some kind of message in parable.

That said, no one else can rally the troops quite this well.

    :)

Rockets fans that're rational and see the big picture by defending Yao against Yao haters are being label YOF. It's sad.

Excellent post, Doc Rocket....I agree with all your points. Refreshing to see a voice of reason amidst all the recent, "chicken little/the sky is falling" overreaction threads.

A YOF is not someone who wants Yao to be good, we all want that.

A YOF is someone who doesn't care about the team at all.

On the flip side if you say anything critical about Yao, you are labled a Yao Hater. Funny how it works both ways.

You don't want to break it up, but you are still trying to bash Yao, like you have been in about 12 other threads at the same time today.

    Doc Rocket is RIGHT.
