I've always been a huge Yao fan, but I have to say I'm concerned that this year, he seems to have taken a step backwards mentally. A couple of years ago, he was getting pretty relentless about attacking the basket, backing his man down before putting up a shot, just overall seemed more aggressive offensively. This year he's settling way too much for the turnaround jumper or moving into the paint but not actually getting any closer to the rim. Anyone else seen that? And hold your flames -- I'm not criticizing Yao. If anything, I think his former aggressiveness was a product of JVG telling him every day that he's the man and pushing him hard to dominate inside. Adelman, well-known for being a players' coach, might not be the best guy to bring out that aggressive side. I'm not sure, but I'd be willing to bet most of his Chinese coaches were tough on him and expected a lot out of him. Yao seems to respond better to that style of coaching.
Do you realize that there are 51 players in this league that get more shot attempts per game than Yao? Is there 51 players that should be getting more shot attempts than Yao?
because of lack of ball movement and too much dribbling. It is not Yao's fault entirely. Yao's fault in this area is in demanding the ball and jumping on his mates for all their dribbling and not throwing him the ball. He does not exert himself as a leader enough. That is the biggest weakness in Yao's game.
You know you will be called names if you say negative comments about you on this board. Its literally been hijacked. You can't even say BOO towards Yao or the r****ds who follow him mindlessly call you everything under the sun. Price we pay for having the most popular athlete in Chinas history, I guess. Yao IS NO LEGEND! Yea, I said it again after 12 years! * *Inside joke for people who actually been around longer than the Yao years.
I get sick and tired of these idiots saying that Yao needs to shoot more. Well if he didn't kill so many possessions he would have the opportunity to take more shots. He turns the ball over way too much, he gets terrible low post position that it makes it hard for the passer to throw it in to so as result the passer has to swing the ball around and it ends up being a bad shot by some one who has to take it because of the shot clock. Scola is the one who needs more shots. Landry needs more shots. Brooks needs more shots. Adelman needs to wake up and stop trying to run the offense through Yao and have a more motion oriented offense.
I just think its bs that when we lose and it's obvious it was a team failure...yao gets the brundt of it. all of the time...it gets old it's like...he's great...he sucks...he's great...he sucks.....exhausting
Welcome to Tracy's world. It comes with the territory of being "The Man". If he cant handle it, then it just shows his true colors.
I think it's just really easy to get on the computer and blame players after a loss. Maybe there should be thread created after each game titled "Who deserves the Blame/Credit"
overall, Yao deserves more "great" than "sucks" because our record is positive. it is BS that fans can not criticize Yao after he sucked. I would not give a damn to the hijacking of Yao fans and I put the "boo" in my signature.
i have always felt that yao isn't "THE MAN"....it is tracy. And that is fine....jordan needed pippen...kobe needed shaq (or vice versa depending on who you talk to) , Shaq needed Wade, Malone needed Stockton. Bird needed McHale...Johnson...Parrish... Nothing wrong with being a second fiddle. that's yao
Tracy's world. I am glad that his world will not be in a Rockets uniform next season. The guy has lost it over the years and he does has the best playoff scoring average but what has that gotten his teams = first round exits.
I agree with this. During the first half of the 06-07 season before he got injured, he was a monster. I felt like he was punishing defenders. He hasn't been the same since.
------------------------------------------------------------------- u r such a hypocrite... u r a known Yao hater so why dont u just cut the crap and keep on bashing Yao, like u always did --- but, how could u be so blind to say that fans who support Yao would only blame his teammates for his failure? we know what Yao can do and can not do, we know he is no Hakeem and he never will be, but if u really don't want his presence in this team, why dont u just do something real, like arranging a petition or something by all of u people to the management to ask for getting Yao out of Houston? occasionally throwing daggers from the dark at the most hard working player of ur team could only tell what kind of a fan u really r.
------------------------------------------------------- i would hv to agree with u on most part of ur arguments, but i dont think it's RA's fault that Yao has been backwards mentally. Yao has always been like this, deep down i do not think Yao could be a real super star, this is not because of his physical limitations, but his mental issues, he is just being too SHANGHAI man style, trust me, i am from where he is from, so i know what i am talking about.
