As much as people hate the Van Gundy haters. The Van Gundy lovers are kind of sickening too. Yao is the best part of the Rockets and JVG is the coach. ANd for the haters please let's wait for the season to start. He if he puts a good product on the court and wins with some regularity than all should be forgiven. And if not then at that let the lynchings begin. But for now can we please shutup about the man.
if the rockets dont make it deep in the playoffs its not gonna be yaos fault. this thread is a joke. i as well as many clutchfans am insulted by this or any other trade yao suggestion.
As usual, GARM posters are horridly deficient of sarcasm-detection ability. Five stars for this thread.
Jeff, you really shouldn't let the site get to you, man. I know we give you hell all the time for your rotations, the way you talk about the players to the media, your infatuation with Rybo and Howard, your refusal to play Hayes as much as you should have last season, and screwing up our tanking job by winning a couple of games we should have lost, but even so, suck it up. Take it like a man. A small man, true, and we have to wear sunglasses because of the glare off your head (thanks, JHo!), but few really, truly hate you here. And if you take us deep into the playoffs this season, all will be forgiven. Maybe, maybe no...
Just because you didn't get it, doesn't mean it's not funny. (It's called mockery. They use it on SNL and other funny shows like the Simpsons and Family Guy.)
Someboby are bored to death. Even if Yao contribute totally negative impact on the court this coming season, there is no way he will be traded. The owner of Rockets offically thanked Yao for bringing in his 1.2(?) billion $$ so far. Who is going to have a problem with more money?
This thread is ghey...Yao will have a great year...However, he and T-mac alone cannot shoulder all the burden...
Sarcastic or not, swap the names to KG and I think we have a legitimate thread. Yao really needs to step up and deliver in the playoffs this season. Whether he can perform in high level throughout 82 games AND playoffs remains to be seen. He really needs to prove himself this year.
Trading him to LA would work nicely as well. I hear the Lakers want him badly, and I'm sure the Clippers do too. Plus then I can buy season tickets and watch Yao in person
There's no way Van Gundier is serious. He has posted too many intelligent reads to come up with something like this. Wink, wink, Van Gundier.
very poor analogy. Yao is arguably the best center in the league for the next 5 years. Gundy is arguably just an above-average coach. coaches don't get worse with age unless their mental and physical health deteriorate to the point that they are unavailable to coach. it would be really interesting if coaches could get traded just like players. it's all but impossible to win with the greatest coaching but mediocre players. it quite possible but very difficult to win with the greatest players but mediocre coaches. actually, it's very difficult to win it all period. even if the Rockets win the whole thing this season, if Phil Jackson was available to replace Gundy, i'd still do it in a heartbeat.
