Did you see how he flew into stands trying to save the ball against the US? I mean, I appreciate the hustle and everything, but please, Yao. Never again. Not even for the Rockets.

I don't see any problem with the injury recovery. I think it's his fitness, he is not in the game shape.

exactly. if he was cleared to play by american doctors he was ready health wise. obviously, he's far away from being in great shape. but we're talking about 5 - 10 games here. that won't make a real difference. if his body is done than it's done. at the end, it doesn't really matter if he breaks down because of 10 games played for the chinese national team in the summer or after the first month of the season playing for the rockets. if his body can take the toll those 10 games won't matter at all.

Yao would play in the Olympics if the bone in his foot was broken in two... For the Rockets though, I think we'll be lucky to have him play in 60 games.

It has been widely reported that Yao is probably 60-70 percent out there. You think a guy not close to fully recovered from major surgery on his foot is going to be sore enough to limp a little? Uh, yeah.

The limp is from his partially torn ACL - not the broken bone in his foot.

I guess the Chinese could hate us for Yao not being 100% for the Olympics..

Is it right to assume that the doctors have advised him not to get surgery for the ACL injury?

I've been wondering why Yao holds his knees and bends them a few times before free throws. I believe he started that at the beginning of last season. I'm guessing it has to do with the knee injury from two seasons ago. Does anybody know more about this?

That's why I found it amusing that there were people in the China vs USA thread ripping Yao for being soft because he didn't shoot that well and how Howard was better, etc., etc. The guy is playing with an injured foot and knee and is 60% to 70% healthy and he's manning up and is playing out there.

For Christs sakes...the guy is working his way back.

No one said he would be able to dominate in this Olympics...I think the plan was just to play.

I actually like the fact that he is playing. It will be good for his recovery/return to action. I think everyone is forgetting that he hasn't played competitively (at least not against high level talent) since Feb.

I think the Rockets like the fact that he's geting some fitness work as well

When the season starts i think the foot is going to be tender, and it will remain in the same status all year. One wrong move or hit, even sombody landing on it, its over. Rick has got to really limit his minutes per game. 40 plus minutes is too much. We need a big with some offense off the bench period, at least sombody 6 10 with a decent wingspan.

    Dorsey 6'7 no post game

Chuck hayes 6'6 no inside game

Mike Harris 6'6 cant get his shot off inside among the trees

Mutombo 7'2 great but no offense still has truoble catching the ball in the paint

Landry 6'8 his game has a question right now, center? na

Scola 6'9 cant play center whole game when yao is injured

Everybody knows yao is going down during the season, how long is the question. So the rockets need to address this situation and not be cheap about it. They need to shell some money in that direction the cheap Mutombo insurance is over!
