Once he gets comfortable, his game will come to him. I still think he wont have much of an impact until after the all star break. Its all about patience.
He just needs to get used to the NBA game. He needs to get used to quicker and better defenders, and he needs to learn how to stay out of foul trouble. It will take a while, but he will become a star (this is my 1800th post ).
Yeah, Yao ming is coming along, and that's just what we can ask for. Improve and adapt in the real NBA game. He does need more minutes, but Cato has been in a zone now. I guess he has to earn his minutes. It is gonna to be hard once everybody gets healthy.
I think Yao Ming will eventually be awesome. He looked like he was a little more agressive going for the rebounds tonight. My Christmas wish for Yao Ming is for santa to bring him a hook shot or a savage dunk or both.
Please read the stats little more carefully. If your brain is really that tiny, I don't blame your ignorance on rebounding and other intagible contribution. You status doesn't really reflect your intelligence.
How many times did he actually even touch the ball? His rebounding looked a lot better tonight...he seem to want the ball more and go after it instead of hoping it would bounce his way. I loved his pass to Collier too.
His 1st shot tonight looked the same as his shot at Indy, except this time it hit the bottom of the net instead of the rim. Yes it'll take time for Yao reach his stride, but what did Kobe do his 1st 2 years!?!
7 rebounds is an improvement. He looks extremely tenative. You can see that he is thinking way too much to react effectively. He doesn't know when to move out to defend, he doesn't know when to stay near the basket, he doesn't know when to jump, or stay on the ground. He seems to be about 1 second late on everything. He also had a nice cross court pass to Francis that zipped over the heads of two defenders. I thought that showed some nice vision, although Francis wasn't interested in taking the shot.
I think Yao needs to get meaner.. We need to see YAO MEAN on the floor. Dunking, giving hard fouls...etc...etc... He is too passive right now....but I sure hope he plays with the passion he showed in the world games soon. He will be a stud when he learns that all these guys in the NBA are as intimidated by him as he is by them. DD
Yao thinking, "Damn, that Kelvin guy is good. I'll never bust into the starting lineup. I can't wait to see Coco Lee tomorrow night."
In SI they mentioned that he broke some guy's wrist who was going for a dunk, and he hip checked someone else on a fast break after daring them to go for it so hard that they ended up sitting out the rest of that tournament.
Exactly what I said DaDakota. He needs to do exactly what Gasol did last year, and develop a mean streak. Yao needs to really get TRASHED before this happens. I'm guessing that after a game with Shaq is when he'll start to make an impact.
Mobley never passed to Yao. Was I the only person that noticed that Yao was open a lot in the post and Mobley just went and did his own thing.
