Yao has cut down his TOs this season. Hope this is a anomaly. He has to learn how to play a defender as great as Wallace. BTW, Wade just had 10 TOs the other night, Payton had 8 tonight.
I recall Hakeem having a "Cripple Double" a few times as well. That'll happen from time to time when the ball goes in to you on almost every possession.
last year he was picking up 5 fouls a game trying to steal the ball from a guard. at least this year he is picking up his fouls trying to score.
It's all JVG and Ewing's fault. They make Yao stupid now. Yao is playing aggressive now. But he is playing in only one way. He lost his favorite mid-range jumper. That is much easier for him and can save him a lot of energy since he doesn't need to fight for a low-post position. I am not saying he should go back to his early time. But he should have more options. That will help him score easily and reduce those TOs. Currently everyone knows what he will do. So it's hard for him to play effective. Similar thing happens to Tmac. When he does offense, there is no changes. He seldom passes. So he got trapped. Stupid JVG! Can you learn offense from now? Otherwise, please disappear!
Incorrect. As a matter of fact, Jason Kidd once racked up a quadruple-double with points, assists, rebounds, and turnovers.
So if a player has say 10pts/10bds/10to's, he is offically credited with a triple double in the nba record books? If so, then I indeed stand corrected.
Actually, I'm not sure if it's officially recorded in the book. I've heard several instances of people using turnovers as a statistic in triple and quadruple doubles but I believe that's just an unofficial tally. Edit: This was taken from CNN "2000 - Jason Kidd has a dubious quadruple-double - 18 points, 12 rebounds, 10 assists and 14 turnovers in the Phoenix Suns' 90-85 loss to the New York Knicks. The turnovers tie the NBA record set by Atlanta's John Drew on March 1, 1978."
Also, I did see 2 instances of travelling called that were very suspect. Neither was replayed on ESPN, but on both plays it looked like Yao's pivot foot was stationary and the refs simply made "assumption calls." It's amazing how over the years we fans have gotten so used to watching refs make the same wrong calls over and over that we can even explain how they happen!
People just call that a quadruple-double because turnovers are included in the statistics. But when you talk about official records, they do not include turnovers.
