This is pretty cool thing Yahoo does for basically every sport the last 2 weeks of the season.

This is my hopeful projection (hopeful being KEY word), but you guys can play around with it and just this way easier to see who will make playoffs with each scenario.

It's scary though because many situations (if Rockets can get #2 seed which is still fairly likely) get us vs. Utah in 1st round.... fing j*zz....., but anyways try it out.

For Rockets to get 2nd seed, they need to win all 5 games, Spurs to lose at least 1 game, and Denver to lose at least 2 out 4 games.

We are still fighting a uphill battle here. My prediction is Rockets will get 3rd seed and play Hornets for 1st round.

this is the best possible scenario.

avoiding the jazz in the first round. avoiding the spurs and lakers in the second.

we can only hope to get this lucky.

That's sort of cool... thanks for sharing. Something else that could eat away at my work efficiency.

Nice I've got us matched up with the j*zz, which is fine with me. There would be nothing better than knocking them out of the first round.
    caffreys_irish_ale's playoff scenerio

    1. Lakers vs 8. Mavs
    2. Rockets vs 7. Jazz
    3. Nuggets vs 6. Hornets
    4. Spurs vs 5. Blazers

Denver has an easy schedule to close the season - I don't think we're going to catch them. I'm hoping we can get up to third, but even that will be difficult. Luckily San Antonio does have some tough games down the stretch - so its possible if we win out. I don't see Utah rising beyond 7 though, they are playing poorly on the road despite their win against NO on the road.

I hope we will be 3rd and get the Hornets or Trailblazers in the first round. I don't care if Denver has hom court in the second round - we can take them. But realistically, I think we get the 4 spot against the Trail Blazers in the first round. Which I'm good with, but it means we meet the Lakers in the second round (assuming we get there - knock on wood!)

I have it where we play end up second, playing the Hornets. But we are tied with SA and DEN.. Which makes no sense, because in that case wouldn't SA hold the tiebreaker, and Den would be have the breaker by being division leader. That would then make us 4th with HCA, so we eend up playing Blazers.

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately, it just leads to me to more speculating on the 'what ifs'....I need to be patient haha.

The current projections have the Rockets as the #2 seed, but with the exact same record as Denver, who is projected to win their division. I thought that this wasn't possible, as winning your division breaks ties in playoff seeding.

Its just that Yahoo doesn't take in the tie breakerrs. So, in all reality the thing is useless unless you take in the tiebreakers yourself.

But if we are tied with them at the 2/3 spot then we have won our division also, so then it goes to regular tie breakers with us holding the tie breaks over them and so would be #2.

Right, I must not have noticed because our projected record is also the same as San Antonio's, but they're above us in the projected division standings.

Speaking of, who has the tie-breaker between us and San Antonio?

I just wish we can get 2nd seed...

It would allow us to avoid Lakers if we possibly get out of the first round.

Actually I would rather get the 3rd seed, we could play Portland or New Orleans, then play the winner of Denver and Utah, and could avoid both the Spurs and Lakers until the WCF. But I have a better chance of winning a $100,000 on a scratchoff than that happening.
