I recently deleted a bunch of files from my C:Windows folder hoping that I would get some memory space back ( I only have a 20 gig hard drive) and now a lot of Windows XP sound thems won't play. Like for example: Start up and shut down themes won't play, alert sounds won't play everytime a program asks me if I want to save, oh, and that little "clicking" sound on Internet Explorer while I'm browsing the internet, too.
How can I get this fixed?

you know what's funny is i have the exact opposite problem

That little clicking sound along with some others i've actually removed. Once i restart my computer they are back along with some display settings that i change as well.

Awhile back i deleted some files that had a trojan virus on them. That probably has something to do with that.

looks like you should be deleting the p*rn thats eating up your hard drive and not the files that are required to make your computer run. just some words of advice...

I am hoping this is a joke. Never delete anything from Windows unless you know what you are doing!!! If you need to clean space on your hard drive start with the Disk CleanUp utility In Programs/Accessories/System Tools. After that go to Add/Remove programs and unintstall any apps you don't use anymore. Once that is done delete the p*rn you are bored with. Then schedule a error check by opening Explorer, Right click on your hard drive and select Properties, click the Check Now button, Select the Automaticaly fix error box, click on start and then Click on Yes when you are asked if you want to schedule this for the next reboot. After that runs you may also want to defragment your drive, but it isn't a neseccary as was with older drives.

To clarify something that pieeatingfattie mantioned..

if you ever get the urge to delete files....NEVER EVER delete anything that is in the folder called C:\Windows or C:\WinNT or C:\WinXP

everything in those dirsectories are windows system files and shoudl not be deleted unless you are a tech or a advanced user.

the only way you get those files back would be to find them on the install disk and copy them back over, reinstall, or check the System Restore utility and see if there is a restore point setup prior to you jacking with the files.
