    Hey guys:

Recently my girlfriend and I started getting into playing video games. She actually likes it a lot. My roommate has a PS2 so we've been playing that, but I kind of want to buy my own system. Heard on TV that xbox is only $179 now, that's down a lot from last time I checked. PS2 is $179 too though. I hear that xbox has better graphics capabilities, but there are now more games for PS2 because the console is so popular. What pros and cons do you guys have? So the question is the following.

    1) Xbox or PS2, what should I buy?

    2) Do you know of any 2 player cooperative games like "Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance"? She really likes that one. But since I beat her in all VS. games and then she gets mad haha, I guess any 2 player cooperative genre would work.

XBOX is the way to go. better graphics, and you can save your CD's onto the system and make your own playlist.

Dude, just go with the Dreamcast. You can get one of those for $30 bucks now.

And no, Xbox doesn't play DVD's.

The Dreamcast is gonna go extinct though... the way of the Sega Saturn, remember though? Haha... back in the days when I played Sega Saturn was a big deal cuz Supernintendo still dominated the market.

I have a friend who has one, and he said that it didn't. If yours does, my bad.

Did they come out with a second gen one, like the PS2 with online capabilities?

You have to get a remote to control the dvd. but i would still go with the Xbox. just because it has a harddrive built in, None of that memory card mess

The GameCube is the hottest system these days. Why aren't you considering that?

Given the choice between a PS2 and XBox, I guess I'd go with the PS2 because of the Silent Hill series. I would do so grudgingly, though. The PS2 is definitely the weakest system, with graphics that look like crap compared to the others.

I don't really like gamecube, the graphics aren't as good, and those small CDs look like toys. Plus I thought Xbox was the hottest?

I do enjoy playing Monkey Ball though haha...

I'm not a Nintendo fanboy or anything, but that simply is not true. I had a chance to play someone's PS2 a lot while on training, and PS2 games just don't compare visually with games on the Cube. There is a noticeable difference. I hear the XBox is the most powerful console, though. PS2 is weakest.

    Your second reason is trivial.

    Haha I know.

But knowing Microsoft, soon they'll force everyone else out of business and only Xbox will remain, so that's one reason to get get Xbox. Plus I was reading Fortune and it says that Nintendo is really on its way down.

As long as they have the handheld market locked up, they should be just fine. Plus, GameCube sales have been soaring.

all xbox's can play dvd's you just have to get the remote.

ps2 is a great system because of the huge selection of games but it is noticeably behind both gamecube and xbox as far as graphics.

i'd choose the x-box easily over any of them, particularly with halo 2 and ninja gaiden in the next few months. don't write off gamecube either, it's only 99 bucks.

Microsoft isn't going to force Sony out of anything just yet. PS2 sales are so far ahead of MS it isn't even funny. XBOX is more powerful, though, followed by GC. But, IMO, XBOX's game selection is a little weaker.

Nintendo just makes good games, period, but their third party support is lacking. They have had the best winter out of anyone, though.

Like always...it all depends on the games you want to play.

When you look at all the features, PS2 is the best overall system, especially in selection of games.

That being said... This is still the system I play the most...

So A Calculator has more power than the NES, no one can match the awesomeness of the games. :D

The greatness of the original is unparalleled. Games like Mike Tyson's Punch Out, RBI Baseball, Contra, Castlevania, Metroid, and Double Dragon have often been imitated, but never duplicated. And Tecmo Super Bowl stands in a class by itself.
