    That's my ranking too. I have access to all three (Bro-in-laws have 'em).

    I own the original Playstation, and the PS2.... My 34 titles on the original is why I chose the PS2. That and the GT series, Tekken, and MGS...

    The DVD playing ability is matched by xbox, but not GC...

    The shear volume of old titles on the original format PLUS the newer PS2 titles does vastly out number the xbox library... and about every single pawn shop, resell shop, discount store, supermarket, drug store, auto parts store, sporting goods store... you name it, they have some PS (1 or 2) titles.

    Availability and retro-variety wins.

    PS2

    PS3 is also said to be reverse compatible I believe, with a HDD and "memory stick" usage as well.

    BTW, while I still say keep the GC for those nostalgic games if we're talking about PS2 vs. XBox, get the PS2.

    1. PS2 have more games

    2. XBox have an incredibly bad controller, just horrible. The controller by it self should deter you from buying the system.

    3. PS2 actually have qualty games and exclusive titles. Not to mention having more Japanese developed console games (which are better for console). XBox have more U.S. developed games (U.S. companies make good PC games but consoles are definitely not their fortay).

    But in the end, as a fanboy, I must say this.

    I don't really think the controller (at least the controller S) is that bad.

    Well, except for the absolutely stupid black and white buttons. :mad:

    A buddy at work says that with the seXBOX, you have to remove some cable in order to play the games, after you watch the DVDs on it... else you will have problems playing the games...

    tsssss.... [shaking head]... tsk tsk tsk...

    Don't have to do THAT with the PS2... ;)

    PS2 -> Rudy T
    xBOX -> JVG
    GameCUBE -> SVG

    1. xbox's games measure up to ps2 by now, and ps2 is in the middle of a serious game drought

    2. Controller S is now the standard xbox controller; it's better IMO than the PS2 one.

    3. Not anymore; try playing Halo 2, Ninja Gaiden, Riddick, etc on PS2....hell, other than MGS3, why is my ps2 still here

    How can you even put Gamecube on the same list? I have all three games and the Gamecube's discs are simply small.

    PS2 has more games NOW.

    X-box has better Graphics

    Game Cube is a good mix with great content for the whole family.

    Xbox 2 or XENON is out November 2005

    PS3 is scheduled to come out in 2006

    GameCube 2, ???? Don't know yet.

    As a developer it is much easier to develop for the X-box, the PS2 has lousy specs and is so limited it is crazy.

    But, Sony has a long lead with over 60 million PS2 units in the marketplace, where X-box only has like 15 million.

    Sony is pissed that X-box 2 is beating their system out and breaking the 5 year console norm...not paying attention to themselves that did it with the PS1 to Sega... :)

    If I had to bet, I would say that Xenon and PS3 will be about equal, but...the key is content, and Xenon needs to get out with some great launch titles to build a lead..

    We are hoping to help.

    :)

    That's the way to go. The last console like hardware that I plan on buying is the Sony PSP. After that, I don't see any need for a PS3 or Xbox2, or GC2? The games cost too much, look like crap, and you have to pay for about (if not all) everygame if you want to play online. PC is the way to go.

    I didn't like the XBOX controller for about the 1st day of owning it. Now I love it. When I play PS2 with my roommates it just feels unnatural.

    Different strokes I guess...

    My PS2 is basically a glorified DVD player at this point. The only current games that I'm interested in are updates of NBA Live and WWE SmackDown.

    I say go shell out $25 on a DreamCast and look into all the classic emulators available for it.

    I think the Xbox controller is awesome, second to the PS2 controller and I despise the gamecube controller, I think its because it just feels weird since I always use Xbox and PS2 controllers

    Since you are a developer, could you describe what the major problems with it are? (out of curiosity, don't get this chance much)
    Hmm....I don't know. I think it will be tough for Xenon. I'm not sure how much Mircrosoft was willing to put into the development of Xenon after losing so much money with the XBOX. Plus, they seem to reach some problems with popular features already such as backwards compatibility and a HDD. Since they're going with ATI this time around, nVidia doesn't really like the idea of Xenon letting ATI understand how it works or something. So an emulator for Xbox games would be needed, and that would take a lot of time and money, which I believe they decided not to do. Seeing as how it will probably be the first next-gen console out, it would help to be able to play games that just came out for the XBOX rather than the launch titles for Xenon. While some people could just keep their XBOX around, those who don't have one wouldn't be able to play those games.

    I think they just didn't include a HDD because of a cost issue. Makes sense considering where they are at.

    I believe that Xenon will be using HD-DVD. While I don't know much about those specifically, I don't think they compare to Blu-ray, which I think and hope the PS3 uses. IIRC, like 2 or 3 major companies backed HD-DVD and like 11 backed Blu-ray. While I don't know the specs of a HD-DVD, I've heard a little aboud Blu-ray, and it sounds amazing. Something like as little as 20-25 GB per disc to as much as 200-250 GB per disc. (quad layered and dual sided, which I believe it can do although DVDs are limited to dual layered). That right there is amazing, IMO.

    As for RAM, I don't know what Xenon will use, but the PS3, I think, will use XDR dram. This ram sounds pretty amazing and is supposed to be the fastest ram on the planet. I think it has a BW of at least 25 GB/sec or possible 51 GB/sec. I think read from another forum that it would take about 2 GB of the current best ram to equal 128 MB of this XDR dram. Xenon could use this too, but IIRC, it doesn't really come out untill the middle of next year, making it pretty hard to put it into Xenon if it comes out a few months later.

    I also read that Sony has developed its own version of DirectX. (don't really know what this means, but I'm sure it is good.) I haven't even touched on the Cell, which is getting a lot of hype. I've heard that they want to have the CPU producing 1 TFLOP/s and the GPU producing 512 GFLOP/s. Not sure about 1 TFLOP/s, but even a little less than that is remarkable.

    Basically, the PS3 should be an ABSOLUTE BEAST. Of course, the PS2 was very powerful, yet Sony made the mistake of pissing you developers off. Let's hope they provide some good middleware and stuff so that the PS3's power won't go to waste.

    I need to do some more reading.

    I absolutely love my xbox. I sold my Gamecube about 8 months ago on Ebay and got an xbox. The thing I love about it is you don't have to shell out $20 or $30 on a memory card for every game you buy. I'm pretty sure you could own every xbox game ever made and it still wouldn't fill up your hard drive. My only concern is about it breaking or something and losing all that memory, but that hasn't happened yet...and you can back up your important memory on a card.

    xbox also has plenty of great games to choose from. PS2 may have a lot more games, but xbox has just as many quality games.

    Anyone who buys a new memory card for every game they get is nuts.

    Actually, I don't think that memory card is good for much of anything. We tried helping a friend transfer some stuff and it really didn't seem to have enough space to help any. Which is no big deal, since it's just too nice having a hard drive in the XBOX anyway. :)

    Here's hoping the rumors that XBOX 2 will have no hard drive turn out false.... :(
