I tried to turn on my xbox 360 yesterday and instead of the light turning green, it was flashing red. I tried it a few more times and it has done the same thing. Does anyone know what that means? thanks
Your xbox is dead "infamous red rings of death". Time to call CS and get it repaired or replaced. How long have you had it?
you can try to check if your wires are all fully connected, but if it occurs again, then yes, you do have the 'red ring of death'.. hope you got warranty
Different combinations of red lights mean different things. For example, I think all four simply means it's not connected to a TV properly. Your documentation should tell you what all the different combinations mean... I believe there's a certain combination of three which indicates some sort of major hardware failure, which is probably what you have. You'll probably have to send it in.
I had the same thing happen. There is a list of possible things to try to fix it (disconnect and reconnect the PS, start it without the HD) but I wouldn't get my hopes up. I had to send mine in (which they charged me $140 bucks for, but I got an email that they were extending the warranties to 1 yr instead of the original 90 days, and that this would apply retroactively so I would be getting a refund check). Unfortunately for me, the new one they sent me doesn't work right (freezes) so I have to do it all over again. I like it, don't regret buying it, but these things really should have been worked out in testing (although I read that the red light problem may have been caused by some malicious software they included in one of the Live Updates that was intended to destroy modded machines, though that is just a rumor).
Yep, same thing has happened to me too, i've taken it to get fixed because wouldn't ya know it; it was a few months past warranty
