ESPN.com is reporting that Henry has still not signed his contract.
What would it take to convince Memphis to trade him? Bima please?

Too much for a unproven player. Anyways, this move just proves that the Grizz is just a joke franchise.

He can always go to Europe like Jennings and Childress.

If that were all it took, it wouldn't be too much.

yes it would ... seems like a good player and if the cost isnt much i think morey should pursue him but i dont want morey to give up any picks if he gets him for some reason i have come to like the idea of having picks on the side

Eh, would have liked to pick him up but with the addition of Lee, he would be redundant and get no playing time.

Memphis would still retain his rights if he plays professional bball anywhere in the world. The only way he gets out is if he doesn't play bball with anybody for a whole year. Then he could reenter the draft a second time.

Otherwise, he either signs with Memphis according to the 1st round rookie contract scale or he has to be traded. Memphis has all the leverage since only an idiot wouldn't play professional bball for a whole year if they are trying to get into the NBA.

^That is the hold up. Memphis doesnt want to pay him the usual 1st round rookie contract. Rookie contracts are often times loaded with incentives. Memphis does not want to include those for Henry so his agent is holding out. It comes to about $300,000 on the contract. This is the first time in a very long time a team has done this. They usually go with the standard contract deals. So I don't blame Henry and his agent. I guess since they overpaid for Gay, they went to lowball Henry.

they should just sign the guy instead of holding up the whole deal and being able to have him over a mere 300k

I would love having this guy on our team.

P.S. if we include Chase in Carmelo trade proposal he could take his spot.

Henry has no leverage. This guy hasn't made one cent as a pro ball player. He can either fold or make less money in Europe.

That being said, Memphis is the real loser in this pissing contest. This is a classic "Penny-wise Pound Foolish" move. They give Rudy Gay $80 million but are quibbling over 300k with Henry.

This will just damage their reputation with draft prospects. They were already having trouble getting some top guys to work out for them. This will only exacerbate the problem.

Isn't Xavier Henry even smaller than Lee? I think he's like 6'3 or something.

With that said, guys like Xavier Henry don't come out very often. I'm all for getting him.

Excellent post. LOL Memphis is such a freaking joke. They have also stunted Lee's growth with this crazy move, he just missed summer league and might miss camp as well.

It didn't stop Danny Ferry or Josh Childress from going to Europe.
