I'm getting .17 mbps with a 105 ping. Tech came out and told me nothing you can do because of distance. Max shoulda been 14,000 feet and I'm located at 20,000 ft and should have been refused service to begin with. Can't even load two pages at once. don't get me started on videos Comcast doesn't service the condo. WTF i really have no idea what to do
Are those two companies your only options? Only think I can think of is to just tether your mobile phone and use that for internet.
Did you screw around with any torrents recently? Time Warner started re-directing to a slower server in April when I was downloading stuff and I was having to reset my connection and do a hard reboot every few minutes or hours.
just signed year lease. who thinks that far ahead in terms of internet service?! apparently we can get service from some crap I've never even heard of...wavevision? Looking at reviews it looks like that's something you don't even want to handle or deal with.
Ping times from Houston to London is about 105ms. So unless they managed to add 4800 miles into that distance, something else is effed up.
itony, Can you tell us where your condo is. what Area code are you in. We aren't talking distance to the last hop; we're talking distance to the first hop. Coax Cable and phone lines have a maximum distance before noise interferes too much with signal.
[edit] how does that translate to 20,000 ft away? Aren't those "luxury" high-rises around there, albeit built in the '80s. So those "luxury" high-rises have internet connectivity issues? ATT or Building mgmt should have repeaters on every floor. so, your neighbors have the same problem? Sounds like they won't allow satellite dishes, either.
Oh god. Wavevision? You're f***ed. I lived in a townhouse that had Wavevision cable and internet for dirt cheap, but it was so bad everyone got something else. Wavevision is the worst product I've ever purchased - and that includes the "patty melt" I had for lunch today that gave me diarrhea for the last 6 hours.
There was anger clouding my listening ability he either said 20k or 2k. But either way it was stated it was over the max distance from where it should have been allowed. I'll have to speak with neighbors. Thanks for the tip on wave vision all I see are bad reviews
Is it att uverse or regular att? I had same problems in a town home with uverse internet, switched internet only to comcast and get over 30 Mbps over wifi constantly. I know you can't get comcast, but thought I'd at least let you know I had same problems with uverse speed.
well spoke with the concierge. guess what? they knew about this bs with ATT.nothing that can be done about that.also turns out a while back, the idiots running the place thought it was smart to sign a TEN YEAR contract with wavevision.whether or not that's even legal and an intelligent thing to do, they will have finally broken out of it at the end of this month. It'll be ATT or comcast some time next month. If it's comcast and I can't get out of ATT scott free and refunded for that r****ded patented gateway they force you to buy i'll be pretty Stay tuned folks for my next rant in a month...
Did you have any kind of sauce with it? Never had diarrhea from a patty melt. Either way, its deliciousness is probably worth it.
ATT's Internet and DSL is now called Uverse Internet, even though it is extremely slow DSL internet. I have the same. I get crappy download speeds in the west area, near the Energy Corridor... I can't get UVerse because it's not in the area, so I had to get Uverse Internet and DirecTV (or maybe Comcast) for TV programming. Sorry about your misfortunes (only had those choices, like you)... I know that FEELS.
<a href="http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/2988878882"><img src="http://www.speedtest.net/result/2988878882.png" /></a> I have AT&T, obviously, and it sucks
Does wavevision require a commitment? They have bad reviews but what ISP doesn't? Oh, and I'm pretty sure that's cable internet and not DSL so it should be a lot faster.
