If you were a GM would you do this? Do you see this happening?

Houston trades: Kenny Thomas $946,920 to Miami
Houston trades: Glen Rice $8,800,000 to Miami
Houston trades: Dan Langhi $465,850 to Miami
Houston trades: Jason Collier $1,280,040 to Miami
    TOTAL: $11,492,810

Miami trades: Brian Grant $10,009,688 to Seattle
Miami trades: Kendall Gill $1,538,000 to Seattle
Miami trades: Malik Allen $332,817 to Seattle
    TOTAL: $11,880,505

Orlando trades: Jeryl Sasser $901,800 to Houston
Orlando trades: Grant Hill $10,865,250 to Houston
    TOTAL: $11,767,050

Seattle trades: Desmond Mason $1,155,240 to Orlando
Seattle trades: Vin Baker $11,250,000 to Orlando
    TOTAL: $12,405,240

    TRADE ACCEPTED

Rockets - They get their much needed SF (IF he comes back healthy and plays the way he did in '99), and get rid of G.Rice's contract. But lose Kenny Thomas, Collier, and Langhi. Kind of Risky here.

Miami - They get a better offensive PF, in Thomas, and get rid of Grants huge contract. They get younger players, which is what they need.

Orlando - They are going to try and make a run for the playoffs this year so they would do this trade. They get a quality vet whos puting up pretty good #'s this year, and a young swingman.

Sonics - They get a meaner and younger PF who can compete with the west PFs and is less expensive than the previous PF. Gill is a vet who can produce immediately.

    What you guys think?

I don't think that Seattle would want to part with Desmond Mason.

Why would the Rockets even make an offer for Grant Hill? We already have a logjam at the three, and that would just add to it. We've also got two backup point guards already, so we don't need Sasser. Besides, I wouldn't be surprised to see Grant Hill retire in a year or two if he cannot get over these ankle injuries. It just wouldn't make sense.

Why trade Hill for Vin Baker? He sucks! I can't see any side really doing that trade...

Grant Hill is done. Why not just get Vin Baker? His contract is shorter. I'd rather trade Cato + Taylor + sal match throw-ins to Seattle, who need to rebuild with youth. I'd rather have some decent role-players on the cheap, a la champ-era Chucky Brown, then multiple fat-contract stiffs. Rudy and Carroll are better at finding and using cba talent and second round cast-offs than they are at signing vets. One overpaid stiff is better than two or three clogging up the roster. Baker has soft hands and wouldn't be so depressed if he could bolt Raintown and trade b**** sessions with G. Payton for high-fives with Wink, Cat and Griff.

Course, I jump at any chance to unload Cato.

I'd prefer a more youthful 3 and 5 with soft hands that can catch, clear out, set picks and board, (ie - not Cato, Rice or Taylor) but hey, you gotta take on some trouble to get rid of bad contracts and bad fits. Surely we can find some kind of hard-working Chucky Brown-type out there to go with the future starters Wink Cat Grif and Torres KT Norris bench. Definately don't need a ballhog.

    Waiting for Jan 15!

    Line-up like this:

    PG - Francis
    SG - Mobley
    SF - Hill
    PF - Griffin
    C - Cato

would be a champions' line-up. I will be ultra-happy with this trade. I want injured Hill much more than injured Rice.
