Thats like asking which arm do you want to cut off... I don't like the choices. There's no reason to renounce Moochie to do this deal. And besides, Thomas won't be in the deal, since White will be going off BYC status real soon. in weeks. One of the reasons this trade hasn't gone down is due to waiting for White's BYC status to change.
I would definitely do this deal, Moochie is a good player, but only a good back-up player behind Steve. And with Rudy T's skills at finding talents from CBA, we'll be able to grab another Moochie type of player out of nowhere. In return, we get a quality big men in White and E. Thomas. Remember, the Rockets got a real close loook at Thomas in last year's draft, but only selected Joel Przybilla at the last moment, and traded him for Collier. And White, atleast he'll be better than Cato right? Look for him to be in the Rockets starting lineup if the deal falls through.
I have a question. People keep giving Rudy credit for picking up talent out of the CBA. Is it really Rudy that does this? Isn't he busy coaching the Rockets? Don't we have scouts who should be getting the credit? Really, I'm curious about this. What's the story?
I have a feeling Rudy T was a scout for the Rockets before he became Head Coach. Correct me if I'm wrong, though. I would think that the Rockets have scouts who tape the CBA players, and then they show Rudy and the other coaches the tapes. But it would be up to Rudy which players they sign. So, to answer your question- I don't know.
If Dan Fegan holds out for 3 mil for Moochie--then this would be a very good deal for us. I don't know if Michael Jordan would give up that much...
Rudy WAS a scout for the Rockets for 10 years before becoming an assistant coach under Del Harris and then Don Cheney. As for CBA decisions, from what I understand, it is a team decision with the scouts, coaches and CD all part of the process. As for the trade proposed, if I were Michael Jordan, I'd probably just sing Meatloaf to the Rockets: "I would do anything for love, but I won't do that."
