That's pretty incredible. I wish they wouldn't feed it dogs, though. :( I wonder how they feed it? Just throw 3 or 4 dogs in there alive or kill the dogs ahead of time? It could go either way. I would say to the dogs if thrown in alive...gang up on that mother and lay down some hurt before your constricted. Chew it's freaking head off! When I had a burmese python, I used to throw all the mice in there alive. Those were some mice death camps. Let's face it...if your a mouse or rat, then your sole existence is prey-based. Dogs, on the other hand, argh......!

They are asking for trouble trying to keep that in captivity. I don't want to hear any sob stories about handlers and their kids being eaten by the worlds largest python.

A friend of mine use to do the same thing until one day he threw a mouse in only to watch it kick the snake's butt. :D

If the thing can kill a dog, shouldn't the humans be slightly concerned.

But this pales in comparison to England's Exhibit called, "American Squirrel."

I love animals and everything, but I just have never understood the value of snakes, especially ones that are eating dogs 3 or 4 times a month.

That same friend I mentioned above also has a fish tank with two big fish (don't know what kind) and a turtle. He feeds them Gold Fish every now and then. He goes to the pet store and buys about 30 to 40 and just drops them in. It starts raining gold glitter in the tank when the fish attack. It is scary when the the turtle attacks. That thing rips the heads off the gold fish.

If I understand you correctly, they're a huge part of the ecosystem. They keep rodent populations (especially rats and mice) down. If they're kept unchecked, they could destroy crops, spread disease, etc., to a much greater degree than now.

The other side of the coin would be the snake asking "what in the hell are those humans good for?" ;)

Guppies are expensive food anyway, I'd go with minnows. They're 67 cents a dozen up here. Where you benn R2K, I've had some more fish tank questions for you, got e-mail?

I remember my dad used to feed feeder goldfish to his oscars. You would see them cruise by and engulf the goldfish and swallow it. There was one time the oscar turned to face me and in his mouth was another fish dead, but looking at me.

Pun, if you want oscars, you really need a 50 gallon tank at the minimum. You can put 1 or 2 in a 35+ gallon, but that's stretching it.

Now I'm derailing my own thread.... :)

I don't want oscars, I want peaceful tropical fish like swordtails, tetras, etc.

What I meant when I said I want a pet that eats live food is a snake. Not one as big as the one mentioned but one that can at least handle a mouse or rat.

I have a tank setup just for a Oscar. I keep them until they are 12-13" and then trade them in to the petstore..

    I love feeding them feeders...
They are such pigs that when I put the feeders in, they will dart back and forth chasing them...he will even nab another one while he still has one in his mouth..

then he goes swimming around with a tail hanging out of his mouth still flipping around...and scales EVERYWHERE!!.

    Fun fun.:D
