17-0 USA.....so if we win, Canada and USA advance? Would Canada then win Pool B, and we'd be the runnerup? Round 2 Sun. March 12 4 p.m. Japan vs. Pool B Runner-up Angel Stadium Sun. March 12 11 p.m. Korea vs. Pool B Winner Angel Stadium
Mexico and the U.S will advance due to number of runs scored involving the games between Canada, Mexico and the U.S.
I believe that Mexico and the USA would advance. The tiebreaker would be runs allowed versus the 3 teams tied at 2-1. Mexico: 3 USA: 8 Canada: 15 I don't know who the #1 seed would be...I'd assume it would be the USA since we defeated Mexico.
this tournament is so damn stupid, you need 3 different pitchers to get 3 outs?? What the hell, just end this, its r****ded. The players should go back to their teams where they belong. I hope Cuba wins this thing so people in America get pissed and end the WBC.
Unfortunately, the timing of the tournament is such that these guys need to get their work in. For all of the plaeyrs in MLB, this is their first few weeks of spring training. Since the mercy rule was in effect, the 5th inning was going to be the last one.
I find it pretty comical to all the people who think this thing is "stupid"... First of all, the players LOVE it. Some of them won't ever get to play in a meaningful game all season, and the ones that do play on good teams would probably relish these opportunities anyways. Additionally, if I were a fan of the teams who's everyday players are there... I'd be pretty psyched because their preparation/game readiness will be heightened by a factor of at least 10 because of them playing in the classic, rather than them hitting slop from minor leaguers who can't cut it in spring training. Secondly, what would you rather watch right now if you're a baseball fan... a meaningless spring training game every now and then which will feature mostly no-names, or games that actually seem important (or at least have decent players playing throughout). I'm pretty certain its going to catch-on big time in the latin american countries.... the US needs to follow-through on this too. I don't need to hear bums like David Wells bash this thing... there are plenty of great players throughout other countries that take pride in this, and will play no matter when they hold it. If anything, after seeing how much the batters are going to benefit from playing some meaningful baseball early (esp the slow-starters like Beltran, Bernie Williams, Ivan Rodriguez, Ken Griffey Jr)... more players will look forward to representing their country.
So our professional beat up on a team that was comprised mainly of high school players and recent draft picks poor guys.
USA and Japan tied 3-3 in the 7th. Derrek Lee just clobbered a monster homerun to left center to tie it up. He is a bad motherf*****. Japan's players all look like skinny, fast midgets who pull their pants up way too high. Their swinging motion involves their entire body in a twisting like form. Interesting.
They look the way MLB players looked before performance enhancing drugs invaded clubhouses. It is refreshing (to me) to see fundamentally sound players that can hit and play defense. And the Japan pitchers ain't too bad either. Most of these japanese players could play in the Major Leagues.
