I'm curious since this board is full of guys...what do you guys consider sexual harassment in your own words?

I've encountered some this morning at work. Married guys NEED to know they NEED to keep their dicks in their pants! UGH!

BTW, I'm not sure if this belongs in Hangout, not the D&D.

So what happened this morning? Were you flashed by a married man? Sounds like indecent exposure aside from sexual harassment.

Sexual harassment can be anything really, it all depends on how the person being harassed feels. It could be something like... if I was to walk up to another co-worker and hug them and you felt uncomfortable, that could be considered harassment. It sounds stupid but its true. I say, keep your hands to yourself, and don't say anything to someone that you would not want said to your mother/sister.

I don't know, morning seems like the perfect time to let it hang out. The way it flops around keeps me awake and alert for work.

You didn't state the size of your employer, but many companies have a written sexual harassment policy that employees have to signoff on and which is then placed in their folder.

Look for a copy of your company's sexual harassment policy and proceed from there.

Written statements and HR investigations are no fun.

I've actually gotten two girls fired before for sexual harassment. If it bothers you too much, you'll get it taken care of.

As mentioned above, most sexual harrassment cases are dependent on who the person is made to feel by certain situations of actions. What happened that made you feel uncomfortable? Did he hit on you or was he being lewd around you?

I don't think size should have anything to do with it. ;)

I wonder if the majority of bbs'ers here were women, whether we'd have the obligatory

"this thread is nothing without pictures"

    comment by now.

    It's quite a double-standard.

When a man talks dirty to a woman, it's sexual harassment.

When a woman talks dirty to a man, it's $2.50 per minute.

Let me clarify - What would a girl have to do to you that you would consider sexual harassment?

I wasn't being literal about his dick in the pants...just a saying.

Actually, this has been a sequence of events ever since he started his job here.

At first, he hit me up on IM(we have Microsoft Office Communicator) saying that it was nice to meet me (his boss had introduced him to me). OK, I'm usually friendly. We chat when time allows, nothing big. I do this with my other co-workers. One day, he tells me that he likes me. I tell him that it wasn't cool. After that, I didn't hear from him until a few weeks ago, a few hi and how are yous. I keep it short. He hit me up on IM again this morning. He asked me for a picture. I asked him why do he need it? He said "just to get a look at you" and then he proceeds to tell me that he has a pic of me. We have an intranet so everybody has a profile and our CIO requires IT dept to have a picture. He said he has it as his desktop background.

    UHH?

I really don't want to create drama at work. If I already told him, I was uncomfortable then obviously he's not going to stop (hence, our convo this morning).

I got written up at a job for sexual harrassment because someone accused me of long stares. I worked for a bunch of real jerks though so I don't know if someone actually accused me or if a manager thought I was staring at someone. It was real messed up because I got along with everyone at work and for the next two months I was wondering who it could be, it was a small company.

I told my manager I would get a lawyer if I had to get it off my record. the next day I walked by the president's office and he had something with the heading "human resource laws" on his computer. I never heard anything about it again.

anyway it really pissed me off because i make a concious effort not to say anything sexual at work, i also try to avoid politics and religion. it happened two years ago and it still upsets me to this day. but like i said, the company was run by a bunch of jerks so it wasn't my worst day there.

F*** it. Save the chat logs and send it to HR. Let them deal with it. Or at least tell him that's what you'll do if it continues.

He knows you have a boyfriend/fiance/significant other, right?

    That's not cool.

Just so it's fair, though, you should really post your pic for us.... ;)

Sounds like enough to get him in some deep water. Probably not enough to drown him yet, but he is headed in that direction.

Consider having a discussion with somebody in HR.

I have to say, that is a problem. You already told him once it wasn't cool, and he keeps trying to flirt.

Oh yeah, seriously though saving the IM's is a good tip. Depending on where you work it probably won't even be necessary. That's why where I used to work everyone communicated through email and IM so that there's a record to cover their butts.
