It looks to me that I am doing half the work for my entire group (6 people) and I am getting tired of doing so much, and my manager keeps on giving me more. I don't really want to be a tattle tell. Anyone have any suggestions?

    Depends on what you're doing.

If it's corporate, I suggest doing even MORE work. It will eventually get noticed.

If it's retail, quit and find another job.

You don't have to tattle tell. Just do only your part. When the project doesn't get done, the manager will know who didn't do what.

Managers push on people they know can get the work done. So if you really want to go somewhere in the company keep pushing along and eventually someone will notice.

If you don't care about getting anywhere pull back the reigns a little and become one of the minions.

I have found that a vast majority of the times that someone goes to management it backfires. Either they'll get what they want but it will be held against them or they will be viewed as a malcontent. I still believe the best method is to conscientously do your job to the best of your ability and eventually you will be rewarded.

    thats true

my issue lately is being asked to come in during off hours/weekends. when i started working since i live close to the office my manager and I made a deal where if i had to come in to not clock in and then fill out a miss punch form for an hour or 2 hours (if i am there for 20 mins, make it an hour, more than an hour make it two hours) basically round up to the nearest hour. This was to basically cover the costs of me having to drive in on a day off etc. It seems like he has forgotten our agreement as the last two times ihave come in on a saturday he has gotten upset that i didnt clock in and handed him a missed punch form. I approached him about it in a polite manner and all he said to me was "what makes you think that you should get paid for driving in? I dont if I come in" I told him that comparing the two of us isn't fair since he is an exempt employee and I am hourly.

The last time i came in for like 20 mins he only approved the 20 minutes and not the full hour I had submitted. It is pissing me off because even if its 20 minutes of 'OT' its not worth the dollar amount for me to take time off of my saturday, sunday or late night on a weekday to come in and do something at that price. I am not sure if there is any person here with HR experience but I am not bound to come in during off hours or weekends right to do work? I just want to know if I say well I am cant come in on weekends anymore if there is anything that can be done to me since my job description is a M-F business hours day job. It is frustrating because more and more I feel my boss is taking advantage of my friendly nature and the worst part about it is that he is very passive-aggressive

What kind of job is this.
The boss sounds like an jerk. If he told you one thing (assuming you are telling the truth) why is he backing out now and pretending like you didn't have a deal?

    haha. Quit the job.

If that's not possible, try reducing slowly. But you better have a backup plan that you can fall on if it back-fires on you.

Are you a junior in the team? How tight are you with the boss?

its an IT job basically most everything I do is during the client on the client side of data stuff. but the company does work 7 days a week occasionally on the weekends something happens and they call me.

i am friendly with my boss i would say we are friends but more and more as i work here (its been a little over a year now) it seems he takes a very passive aggressive approach to things. I've confronted him on a few things and we've settled it out not sure how to exactly approach this one. obviously i do not want to get fired..i am starting to look at other things if something comes up i am going with that. just feel that me being friendly with him has backfired on me that he tries to use that to take advantage.

Does your boss wear a pink shirt and always carry a coffee mug around?

Dude... that's not nice at all... :(

Langhi, keep sending messages to the entire group when you complete a task. Wait to see what the rest of the group responds. If they don't, the manager will be forced to ask who is doing what, and how much is your part.

When it's a project amongst us, we email each other, and only email the boss when someone's not doing their part. We know each other here enough to go talk to one another and say: "Hey, p*to, how come you ain't doing this sh*t, 4sssh0l3?!?!? Get to work, f*cker!" and no one gets hurt.

Office unofficial ettiquette amongst buddies and friends says that you talk things out between yourselves before you go to your boss "tattle telling." Try either going or just talking to the bad apple before it spoils the bunch.
