Thanks y'all It's an award given to the top 14 (or fewer) graduating seniors every year. It's an award based on lots of stuff. It's based partially on grades, but also on other stuff. You need to have good leadership skills, be active on campus and do lots of community service. The application requires 2 recommendation letters from faculty, and 1 optional recommendation letter from an outside source. You also have to write an essay for the application. Check out this awesome political maneuvering. I would've done this anyways, but if I were out for the best positioning, this would've been really cool. My recommendations came from my advisor (won Business school professor of the year last year), a boardmember of the school, and my first roommate, who won the award when he graduated. In total, the application took about 3 days to finish. You have to take an inventory of everything you've done. I didn't mention everything, and lumped some of the things (SAMM Shelter, Lincoln Heights Projects, etc.) into one big category. My essay was freakin' amazing, best one I've ever written. As a whole, it was really cool. Now, I get my picture on a wall in the second floor of the University Center. I'm taking it tomorrow. It'd better be good! I'm not photogenic at all. Ya know what sucks though? I can't goto the final game b/c that is the night I get the award. AND I can't goto the DMB concerts in Houston because that's the day (and day before) I am graduating.
