Anybody watching the Woodstock movie on VH1 Classic? It's on all weekend with The Dick Cavett Show being shown in between. The Cavett show features performers from Woodstock being interviewed as well as performing.

Some of the greatest performances in music history took place at Woodstock:

    Jimi Hendrix

Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young (one of their first gigs)

Alvin Lee (Ten Years After) Amazing guitar player.

    Janis Joplin...etc

The list goes on and on (complete list here)http://www.digitaldreamdoor.com/pages/music0_woodstock.html

Thanks, Bob*. I'll have to turn it on. Alvin Lee and Janis... man, were they talented. They did the Texas International Pop Festival that summer, after Woodstock, which I've mentioned before. You might find this site interesting. http://www.texaspopfestival.com

Man, did I have a good time! (a friend of mine, if I can ever hook up with him, has a copy of the soundboards of the Texas festival... he says) Just wish I'd made the trek to Woodstock. Lucky to have seen Jimi several times, and CSN&Y. Jimi was awesome at Woodstock!

Yep, I remember you posting that link before.

I was 8 years old in 1969 and the saddest part is, at that time I was living in New Jersey, just a stones throw from Bethel, New York.

You probably already know that I am a HUGE Jimi fan. I envy you for having seen him in person. I have a nice bootleg CD collection of Jimi stuff and some concert VHS's (complete Woodstock performance INCREDIBLE) and DVD's.

If you ever hook up with your friend, please let me know. I would love a copy of the soundboard Texas Festival concert.

Yes, and trust me, I don't deserve it. All I did was have a damned good time, and ruffle a few feathers, but thanks. :)

Bob*, I've been hearing about these soundboards for over a year, via the occasional phone call. I know for a fact that my buddy was interviewed by someone that's connected with that site, somehow or another. If I ever have joy, I'll let you know, assuming there isn't some "super double secret" oath involved, which is always possible. I've heard parts of the Led Zep soundboards from the festival, and they sound excellent, so I'm hopeful. The story is that some legal mumbo-jumbo has hung up the recordings ever being released. The Led Zep stuff was a bootleg.

No, it's that place you get the firewood at that you never use in Central Texas, 'cept every 5 years or so.

No kidding. I thought those 2 performances, along with Jimi's SSB obviously, were the 2 best performances of the whole show.

Especially Santana. My God, that was an AMAZING version of Soul Sacrifice complete with a LEGENDARY drum solo by the 19-year old  Michael Shrieve, Santana's original drummer. He was the youngest performer to play at Woodstock. And clearly one of the best...
