I am not sure CC isn't better than a few of the players selected over her so that argument is suspect. You'd have to pivot your argument from "CC doesn't deserve it because even though she will be better she isn't better now" to "the older players aren't better now but they earned it for past performance". At that point you are not supporting have the best current players on the team. And I am pretty sure CC has better stats than 41 year old Taurasi.

But that also ignores the huge loss of interest in the team. I saw someone say... ":how would you explain not going to a player if CC was chosen over her?" I'd explain it thusly... "CC is a huge raise in salary and other money for you." Heck... I think Brink should also be on the team. She'd add way more viewership.

Next year, Paige Bueckers will join the WNBA. She will also deserve invites to any world championship teams immediately.

I love CC, she is fun to watch and this is from a guy who hasn't watched the WNBA since the Comets. I think she's handled the ups and down with class but man her team sucks

I don’t know if anyone is watching the WNBA right now that neither Caitlin Clark or Angel Reese are playing but the finals are really exciting basketball.

I only watched for CC, don't really care for Reese. I'll take your word that it's an exciting finals.

I just watched the refs rig the game for NY in the WNBA finals and I see the outcry amongst NBA players about it.

Where was the outcry when the refs rigged game after game for the Warriors to win over the Rockets, including the infamous 0-27?

Just a reminder that even if we get a championship team, we still have to beat the refs if we go against a big market team like the Lakers/Warriors/Knicks/Boston in the playoffs.

I watched the game and there was some bad calls late in the game.

The announcers all through the game kept on talking about how the Liberty had never won a championship. Really got the feeling that the league, ESPN, etc wanted to see NY get one.

Warriors aren't even that big a market compare to Rockets. I guess it's a Westcoast thing.

There should be a team named the Beavers. I would totally buy a jersey and wear it daily.

Still waiting for the Comets to return smh.

This season will be interesting though. A'ja Wilson is going for her 4th MVP. If she wins it again this season she'll have the league record for most MVPs. I have her, Napheesa Collier, or Stewie winning it.

I saw this on X yesterday and it made me chuckle. Then the same story popped up again in the Morning Brew newsletter this morning and I read this...

WNBA players know their league doesn’t make NBA money. But currently, NBA players receive 50% of all league revenue, whereas the WNBA players receive just 9.3%.

According to Nneka Ogwumike, the president of the WNBA players association, the league offered players a fixed percentage of revenue, but the union wants a model where “our salaries grow with the business, and not just a fixed percentage over time.”

On one hand, 9% seems pretty low to pay your talent. But when the entire business is propped up on a subsidy...starts to make more sense.

And Ms. Ogwumike's quote is confusing. Won't your earnings on a fixed percentage grow with the business, even if the percentage stays the same? o_O

right. 50% of 100, 50% of 1000.....your earnings are growing..

what does she want...75% when it's 1000? wtf.

The bro-twittesphere piling on the WNBA is the most predictable thing since gravity
