I'm sure the team is happy with this, especially since he missed last season.

WESTLAKE, Ohio - Browns tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. was injured in a motorcycle accident, but the team said his injuries aren’t life-threatening.

Winslow was riding in a community college parking lot Sunday when he hit a curb at about 35 mph and was thrown from the motorcycle, police Lt. Ray Arcuri said.

He was taken by ambulance to Fairview Hospital and was scheduled to be transferred to the Cleveland Clinic on Monday where the team’s medical staff would treat him, Browns spokesman Bill Bonsiewicz said.

“He went over the handlebars and was real evasive about what the injuries were,” Arcuri said.

Winslow was wearing a helmet, but it wasn’t strapped on and flew off his head, Arcuri said. He and four other men were riding motorcycles in the parking lot, not far from Winslow’s home.

The first-round draft pick missed nearly all of his rookie year after breaking his leg in the second game of the season. He has had two operations on the leg.

I hope there is some sort of clause in his contract saying if you injure yourself due to your own stupidity you have to give back a part of your signing bonus.

When did the soldier start patrolling on a motorcyle? Shouldn't he be in a humvee or something?

Apparently the curb was not notified about his self-granted soldier status.

A soldier should always make sure his helmet is strapped on extra tight.

He must remove himself from the gene pool.

I guess that's what you meant by "light".

He fought the curb and the curb won. What kind of puss-ass soldier would let a curb win??? He's no soldier. No soldier indeed.

Don't big money contracts have provisions forbidding this kind of thing? I know Jay Williams contract had it - and Jeff Kent's too(which was why he said he hurt himself washing his truck) - I wonder if the Browns have a clause like that?

I didn't catch the whole segment, but based on a discussion "Mike and Mike" were having this morning, the "F-ing Soldiers" contract, apparently, specifically forbids motorcycle riding.

    Winslow is a douche.

Haha what an idiot. Purchase one of the most potent motorcycles available, then try to learn how to ride it without proper instruction or safety gear. Do all this even though you risk about 10 million bucks.

WESTLAKE, Ohio (AP) - Browns tight end Kellen Winslow Jr. sustained internal injuries when he was thrown from a motorcycle, the team said Monday night.

Winslow, who missed most of last season with a broken right leg, also has swelling in his right shoulder and right knee. The extent of those injuries won't be known until further tests are performed and the swelling subsides.

The Browns didn't provide details of Winslow's internal injuries, but said they are not life-threatening. Winslow had complained of chest pains after he was injured Sunday.

Winslow is being treated at the Cleveland Clinic by the team's medical staff, Browns spokesman Bill Bonsiewicz said. He will be hospitalized overnight and there is no timetable for his release, the team said.

Winslow was riding in a community college parking lot Sunday when he hit a curb at about 35 mph and was thrown from the motorcycle, Westlake police Lt. Ray Arcuri said.

"He went over the handlebars and was real evasive about what the injuries were," Arcuri said.

The 21-year-old Winslow was wearing a helmet, but it wasn't strapped on and flew off his head, Arcuri said. He landed in a landscaped area at the edge of the parking lot, falling hard enough to tear out a small tree.

He and four other men were riding motorcycles in the parking lot, not far from Winslow's home in suburban Cleveland. There was no alcohol involved, Arcuri said.

"The four gentlemen said he was testing the bike out learning to ride," Arcuri said.

Winslow purchased the 2005 Suzuki GSX-R750 last month. He could face charges of reckless operation and operating without a valid driver's license because he didn't have a learner's permit, Arcuri said.

Many professional athletes have contract clauses that prohibit them from dangerous activities, including motorcycles. Browns spokeswoman Amy Palcic declined comment on whether Winslow's deal has a similar provision, saying the team doesn't release contract information.

The NFL Network reports Winslow's incentive-laden, six-year, $40 million contract is littered with language that forbids "hazardous activities" such as "motorcycling." This means that Winslow has put the majority of the contract at risk. The Browns now could ask Winslow to return the $4.4 million option bonus they paid him March 1, as well as a significant portion of the $6 million signing bonus they paid him last year.

The first-round draft pick broke his right leg against Dallas in Week 2 while attempting to recover an onside kick in the final seconds. He missed the rest of his rookie season. Winslow had five receptions for 50 yards in his first two pro games.

He has had two operations on the leg and said in March that he expected it to be fully healed for this season. Winslow signed a six-year, $40 million contract with the Browns, but lost a $5.3 million bonus because of the leg injury.
