The windshield washer isn't working on my car. I'm not very car savy so I don't know where to start. What I do know is it doesn't even sound like it's working, so I don't think it's a clog in the nozzle. HOw much would it roughly cost to get it fixed?
whats your year, make model? Id first check the fuse that controls the washer pump and rule that out. If thats ok, I would say its your washer reservoir pump. Depending on the vehicle, you can by the pump separately and they are not very expensive and pretty easy to change out. However, on some models, the pump only comes as an assembly with the reservoir itself.
thanks for the reply. It's a 94 honda accord. It's probably the pump then. I got into an accident last week, and I was going to take the car in for another checkup today. Front ended someone, and that's where the windshield washer pump is located. damn. I checked kragen online right now at it's about 90 bucks to replace. don't know if i should just leave it for now; money's tight atm after taking it to tthe bodyshop. I'm going to go and check the fuse. fingers crossed.
Can you hear the pump come on at all? You may just have a hose loose, or a clog in the line or washer jets. Is there water in the bottle? You can at the pump connector if there is power getting to it when activated by using a volt meter or a test light. An auto parts store can probably do that for you.
If you were in a front end collision, there is a good chance its damaged. Those reservoirs are almost always located just behind the bumper covers and crack easily w/ a front impact. Seems I figure for washer reservoirs on at least half of the front end claims that I write.
