windows xp question

    i have windows xp pro on my desktop and my 2 laptops. on my desktop when i choose the logoff option i have the choice to switch uses or logoff. choose switch users leaves everything up and open under that user and then allow you to sign in on another user account. on my laptops when i choose logoff onlky have the option to logoff and not switch users. is there any way to have the switch user option availablre?

    If I understand you correctly, this should do the trick:

    1. Log on to the computer as an administrator.
    2. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then click User Accounts.
    3. Click Change the way users log on or off.
    4. If it is not already selected, click to select the Use the Welcome screen check box.
    5. Click to select the Use Fast User Switching check box, and then click Apply Options. Quit the User Accounts tool.

    try pressing windows key and the letter 'L' at the same time

    If he doesn't enable the things I listed it simply locks the computer. From what I gathered, he wanted somebody else to use the computer while not losing his running programs. Once he enables that stuff, then he can use Win button and L to switch users.
