Windows XP Problem

    I have a fairly new notebook w/ XP. It does not proceed past the XP Welcome screen; it never gets to the point to show users.

    I've tried safe mode...no luck..does the same thing

    I've tried alt-tab, and it shows 2 windows, the Welcome screen and then an unnamed screen that I cannot go to.

    Any ideas?

    Have you tried booting from the CD/DVD?

    trying booting from the XP CD, then try to run the repair console to see if it helps.
