Does anyone have any experience with converting files for encoding in .asf - mainly audio, not video?

I have a client who did some voiceover stuff and had me make all these little .wav files not knowing they really wanted .asf for a multimedia project. The big problem I'm having is finding an easily convertible source that is small enough. These are 5-6MB files that can be no larger than 500K once they are converted.

I've got them to small files but the .wav's don't seem to convert correctly. It may be a Mac vs. Win thing, but I haven't had problems with it before.

    Thanks.

jeff, finding any computer audio file that will sound good at 500K will be hard to do, no matter how you encode it...How long are teh clips and does it have to be .asf? .vqf is a pretty good compression tool.

I think he's planning on streaming it...so the initial download would be very small...not sure.

Jeff, I really haven't messed with ASF too much, but if you want to try it out on Windows let me know...you can FTP the file over here.

BTW, what are you using to do the conversion?

Thanks guys for the responses. Just to answer questions...

SirCharles: No question 500K does not make the most pleasing quality, but that can't really be helped. The files are voice only and run as long as 55 seconds and as short as 8 seconds. Most run between 15 and 25 seconds. What software uses .vqf compression?

x34: I've been using shareware audio converters. I do not have much call for this type of thing. Usually, I do the editing and turn stuff over just on an audio CD or as MP3's, so this is new for me.

I appreciate the offer, but I don't think I can send any of these files over - confidentiality crapola and all. But, thanks a lot.
