I have been looking around all the threads here and am noticing all the different proposed moves. But the way I see it our best move is probaly no move. Francis and Mobely are the future of our backcourt. They work well with one another and feed off of one another. Then guys like Griffin, Nachbar, and Ming are still developing. Then players like Norris, Posey, Taylor, and Rice are solid guys who provide great middle ground between are established stars and up and comers. Right there you have a solid 9 man rotation. Just give them time to get used to one another. The pieces are there, it's just time to put the puzzle together.
Agreed. I would like to see what these guys can do with a disciplinarian as coach. I thought Les was a little gung-ho last year when he mentioned "one of the best rosters ever", but I believe that the Rockets still look great on paper this year. If JVG believes someone is uncoachable, I might understand. If a deal for a sure-to-be all-star is possible, then I would also understand. Just about anything else looks like a lateral or downward move to me.
Even if we make no other moves, the Rockets have to get a legitimate backup point guard. Moochie is a tremendous liability almost every time he steps on the court.
Not if JVG runs his beer gut off. Moochie was fast when he was hungry and playing for a roster spot. It sure didn't take him long to adjust to the NBA way of life.
The Rockets will make the playoffs w/o injury regardless of what roster changes are made. Another (FULL) year together for Francis and Ming, more familiarity with one another, a new arena w/bigger crowds, Ming's inevitable improvement and adjustment to NBA life, and outside forces like Stockton's retirement virtually make the playoffs a lock. This is one of the reasons why the Rudy firing was so completely senseless. **** you Alexander.
I agree also we should stand pat. We all know that JVG can : 1.make Mobley change and get 5 assists per game and dont shoot as much 2.moochie to play D 3.Griffin to gain 50 lbs of muscle to back down Webber,Dirk,etc.. 4.Nachbar to play D 5.Cato to score 6.Taylor to stop eating cheesecake btw,Im being scarcastic about standing pat in case some of you actually think JVG can accomplish these things
Guys I'm sorry but theres no way we stand pat........You can forget that. You can rest assured that a move will be made this offseason. If for nothing else, its a BUSINESS DECISION. Remember guys, we're going into a new arena, with a new coach, (firing a Houston Icon in Rudy) a new found dominating 7'5" chinese all star center, and sagging home attendance, (not to mention a new local NFL franchise who reside next to AstroWorld who should be very much improved from last season with the additions of free agents and high profile rookies i.e. Andre Johnson who is a freak!!! Les has to play catch up guys. he's got to keep up, or get swallowed up) Do you really think Les is gonna take a chance at another lottery season????? The answer is hell no Les would be fried in this town if his team doesn't improve, hence you will see some action here guys.

I say keep the team the way it is and see how far JVG can take it. I read alot of post that said the players was the reason why this team didn't make the playoffs and they are not talented. I disagree with this strongly and you will see the difference this upcoming season. This team won 43 games and I will say they gave 10-12 away. If you do the math that's 53-55 wins enough for a 4th seed. Along with the fact they played horrible all season. Now imagine this team playing basketball the way it is suppose to be played and the tough D that goes along with it. You have in the making a "Dam Good Team" with a coach pushing the right buttons to get this team to playing up to its capabilities.
The Rockets should have made the playoffs this year and that is the reason why Rudy is not here. Let it go
Before the season started, very few unbiased analysts thought the Rockets wouldn't go to the playoffs. We missed the playoffs by 1 game. If Rudy didn't get cancer, I bet they would have won at least 1 more game. Also, how can you blame Rudy for the collapse Yao had at the end of the season?
We still need a power forward who can defend and rebound down low. Even, Shaq needs a dependable power forward. I would love to see another 7 fter to play along side Yao. Griffin is not what we need. Lets trade him while his stock is still high.
You stand paat guys are beating a dead horse. Its way past time to make a change. This team the way it is now could play together from now on and never get it together. A new arena, a new coach, and new faces. A fresh start all around.
I disagree. Not about the Rockets making the playoffs. I agree that they should have beaten out Phoenix and possibly even the aging Jazz. But I think the real reason Rudy was let go was that these players weren't making any significant progress. Francis still couldn't run a fast break or take care of the ball. Mobley was still a ballhog and a lousy passer. Eddie still lacked motivation. Mo Taylor was still fat. Moochie got even worse last season. And Yao lost the Rookie of the Year award to a high schooler. You know things are bad when the only positive thing anyone can point to is the improved play of Kelvin Cato. The four straight lottery seasons were bad, but they were also just a symptom of the bigger problem this team had. Rudy is a great coach, but a lousy fit for this group of players. A guy like Jeff Van Gundy is exactly what they need.
Rice must be traded by the All-star break, or his expiring contract goes to waste. Other than that, I have no problem with just resigning Posey and keeping the team together.
And I bet that if the rox would have won at least 1 more game the suns would have won at least 1 more game.
We can't do better than 7th seed with this roster, but with some changes (approved by new coach Van Gundy) we can easily move up to 5th or 6th seed. We CAN make the playoffs with this team and Van Gundy, as well as Rudy. However, if we can improve through trade, why wait? If you can get J O'Neal, why wait for Griffin to become J O'Neal? If you can get Allan Houston, why turn Mobley into a shooter? If you can improve, you trade, UNLESS you're championship calibre. That's the rule, and we're not championship calibre.
Regardless of what, We still are in desperate need of a Zone buster , or pure perimeter shooter.......Nobody can deny that It wasn't Rudy's fault that this was a horrible shooting team this year......I don't remember seeing Rudy hoisting up jumpers last season..........Hey thats not a bad Idea, old number 45 used to fil it up
