He's a big 2. Money from 3-land. Played for a good coach and good system at UConn. Some said he was the best shooter in the nation last year, not J.J. He's much more athletic than JJ. He didn't get drafted, so he's a free agent. I don't know if he hooked on with a team, but I think he'd fit in nicely in this system next to Tracy and Yao just like he did in UConn.
Don't any of you guys watch College Basketball? This guy was one of the most popular players in the NCAA tournament. He hit the big shots for UConn all the time. His teammates looked at him as more clutch and reliable than Rudy Gay. He can jump, and he has a very high release. I just did some research and found he's playing summer league with the Wizards.
We still need a 2 with the loss of Bogans. My choices would be Pat Carroll, Richie Frahm, or Rashad Anderson. All would come at the minimum. As for the 1, JL3 looks like a lock. Marcus Banks is a must. We need to match the highest offer he gets.
Strengths: Tremendous outside shooter ... One of the top 3 point shooters in college basketball ... Over half of his shots come from beyond the arc ... Clutch performer, stepped up big in UConn's championship run in 2004 ... Has developed a reputation for being unconscious shooting the ball. Doesn't get rattled in important situations ... Jim Calhoun calls him "the dagger" because of his penchant for hitting shots at key moments of games ... Has a chance to make an NBA team as a (shooter) role player ... High release point gives him an advantage getting the ball off ... Weaknesses: One dimensional player, outside of shooting the ball lacks great skills ... Does not pass or handle the ball well ... Lacks the ability to create shots for himself off the dribble, which is key for a scorer ... Poor decision maker passing the ball ... Struggles against quick and athletic defenders ... Not very athletic ... Lacks great defensive ability, slow foot speed ... Has an unorthodox shooting motion, but it's successful ... Free throw shooting should be much better for such a great outside shooter ... Notes: One of the top scorers for a championship contending team ... (Source: http://www.nbadraft.net/profiles/rashadanderson.asp) Despite his prolific college career, Anderson was not selected in the 2006 NBA Draft. <b>Currently he has accepted an offer to play for the Washington Wizards entry in the Las Vegas Summer League</b> (Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rashad_Anderson) also check out: http://www.draftexpress.com/viewprofile.php?p=21 I don't think van gundy will want anderson, given that his defense is below average, unless he loses some pounds and shows some desire to improve in his weak areas. i agree with you, though. i think he could be a good asset on a team - especially one that is in dire need of quality 3 pt shooters. very strange that he went undrafted...
ah, you beat me to it. but yes, he was definitely uconn's most clutch 3 point shooter. some of the shots he hit throughout the season and in the tourney towards the end of the games were sick!
I completely forgot about Rashad. I would love to have him, but as a rookie shooting guard, I don't know how much he would help us in the next year or two... so yeah, but the guy could shoot in college, looked a lot like a college version of an older finley.
Per Baqui 99: "Never heard of him." He sounds like a good player with size. Is he a mobile player? __________________
I still think Richie Frahm is a great fit for this team, maybe not as an 8 man rotation player but definitely one of the 10-12 spots on the bench.
