Saw the poll on rockets rightside. saw courtny has only 6%. A lot of teams want to move up to get him. He could turn out to be better then johnson. He is trying to make his game around jordan which means he is trying to learn how to score AND get others involved. I think him and francis would put tons of point every game. All he needs to work on is his D but what rookie doesn't?
Because we already have Shandon Anderson and Cuttino Mobley (hopefully). If Alexander wasn't 6'6'', I would consider it. Our backcourt is set, we need frontcourt help. ------------------ "Go to hell Costas"-Dave Nelson after sweeping the ABSCAs on NewsRadio visit www.swirve.com
Ditto to Rocketman and Dean. The only other thing I would consider is if he is still available at the nine, I would draft for: 1. Another team that will sell their soul for him. 2. Another team that is in a position to draft exactly who we want and that player will be available at a later position.(I have no idea who that would be, but Chicago and Detroit keeps coming to mind.) I do have visions of a lot of players that are rarely mentioned in Mocks, ending up in lottery land, and thus pushing some of our desirables way down. 3. Mobes does not sign or we are faced with an opportunity to include him in a trade for a big hole. We are talking premier players here. Other than that ....... Courtney Alexander may as well be a two horned dog. Great to talk about, might even get you a couple beers from tourists on occasion, but absolutely useless for huntin' or pattin'. ------------------
I could see Orlando wanting Courtney at #10 since they sound undecided about re-signing Ron Mercer. Maybe we draft Alexander #9 and trade him along with the pick the Magic owe us for #10 and #13. We use #10 on Moiso and #13 on Stevenson.
I like your idea outlaw and we have to remember that Cuttino isn't in our fold yet! This system sucks. ------------------ There are 3 kinds of people: those who can count and those who can't.
We use #10 on Moiso and #13 on Stevenson. We don't need Alexander because he's a 2 guard. So why in the world would we then want Stevenson? ------------------
ae-DUH!!! He came out of high school. He has to be a future superstar. All of them become the next KG. Korleone Young just didn't get good PT. ------------------ The more lefties on your team, the better.
best available player? he's young. no need to rush him unlike Alexander who is 4 years older and ready now. also insurance in case Cat does bolt or even Shandon next summer is not a lock to re-sign. who would you pick at #13 that realisitcally would be there? NIKE, you mentioned KG, what about Kobe? T-Mac? Rashard? Jermaine O'Neal and Al Harrington have shown flashes of talent too. Bender was injured and on a deep talented team. Young is probably the only example of a high schooler who was a bust and he was a 2nd rounder to begin with anyway. [This message has been edited by outlaw (edited June 23, 2000).]
outlaw-just fooling around. I was about to post the exact same post you did (the what about Mickeal at #9). Weird. Thinking of it, there aren't many more options, as all the good post players are gone. ------------------ The more lefties on your team, the better. Trade or bench Kenny Thomas.
NIKEstrad and outlaw, Satterfield withdrew his name, so that route has been taken away. Mango ------------------ Eat more spinach! Live long and prosper! Donate blood! Smeg will be assimilated. Now...back to updating The Serious Police Files.
I still disagree. Courtny in my opinion will be a better player then johnson. Thats why i think we should forget about our needs and just grab alexander. But if you ask me Johnsons on the board at #9 rudy will take him period. Johnsons gonna be a good player to, definitly a starter, maybe even better then alexander....... But what i think we need to push us forward to contenders is not a #9 pick but one other superstar that francis can play next to. cause francis can be a great scorer but hes an even better passer i think so just imagine him next to a superstar. I think we'll get our "sidekick" superster next year via free agency. this year we can just watch our team develope even more and hopefully make the playoffs and upset some teams! I PRAY Cato steps up, if he doesn't is he gone?
I would rather go with DerMarr Johnson over Courtney Alexander not only because of need, but I also think Johnson is the better player for the NBA game. Alexander does one thing really well and that is score. He does not have the versatility, size or ball handling of a player like Johnson. Johnson can play multiple positions while Alexander will be stuck totally at the SG position. Also, Alexander possesses too much of a "jacker" mentality for my liking. I am always leery of players like that as they can erode team chemistry in a hurry. If the NBA were a one on one game then Alexander would dominate, but it is not. ------------------ Check out the Best Source for Draft Info Draftsource.net [This message has been edited by MManal (edited June 24, 2000).]
So Anderson and Mobley aren't good enough at the two guard right now? Is that what you are saying? Would you trade either of those for a #9 pick? ------------------ "Go to hell Costas"-Dave Nelson after sweeping the ABSCAs on NewsRadio visit www.swirve.com
I certainly think that the Rockets will consider Alexander @ 9 if he is still available but I'm just not sure that if DerMarr is still on board that Rockets will take Alexander. If it came down to taking to talent rather than need & it very well might & the Rockets think that Alexander is a big prize at 9 than they will take him deal with the decisions later.... ------------------
Maybe we draft Alexander #9 and trade him along with the pick the Magic owe us for #10 and #13 outlaw, I like your idea. But, instead of the #13, I would go for replacing it with the player that bares your username, former University of Houston Cougar Bo Outlaw. I'm not sure if that work since he is a free agent and all, but if that could work it would be awesome for the Rocks. I would even add in a Drew to satisfy Orlando. With the rangy Moiso and hard-working Outlaw on board, they could then sign a cheap defensive center (Brad Miller) in case Cato is traded or Dream gets injured, or another swing man. I don't think the Rockets are good enough yet that we could afford the luxury of wasting a lottery pick to strengthen our strongest position. We've got alot more needs to fill than a third string SG, just in case the top two guys bolt (which isn't likely) If we did have the 13th pick, I'd take any of these 14 players before Stevenson: Martin,Swift,Fizer,Mihm,Pryzbilla,Tsakalidas,Miles,Miller,Johnson,Alexander,Moiso,Oyedeji,Crawford or E.Thomas. Crawford or Alexander would be for trade purposes. After that I'd have to consider trading the pick to one of the teams that want a PG (Dooling,Cleeves or El-Amin). ------------------ [This message has been edited by aelliott (edited June 24, 2000).]
aelliott-you forgot E. Barkley. If the Rockets needed a PG, he'd be my pick. ------------------ The more lefties on your team, the better. Trade or bench Kenny Thomas.
