It seems that every team has gone to a matchup style of zone where they have a double team on Yao BEFORE the pass.

Also, they are overplaying our post players and the passing lanes.

The Rockets keep moving farther and farther from the basket to try to receive the pass, and the other teams defenders keep up the pressure and over play them.

The easy way to beat this defense is to take one hard step out and then back cut to the basket, usually results in a layup, or a good pass which causes the defense to rotate resulting in a good shot.

Why don't the Rocket guards and forwards go back door?

We could use a good dose of the Princeton offense, it would help Yao and the rest of the team immensly.

I was wondering the same thing after watching the Kings game last night. Teams front Yao so much, you would think it would work. I also have been wondering about lobs up to the rim for Yao. I remember the Lakers doing it with Shaq when a defender fronted him alot. He would roll straight the basket with a pass right to the rim for an easy alley-oop or dunk.

This also works for our guards, teams keep over playing at the 3pt line, just cut back door, it opens up the offense a ton.

That would require Offensive Strategy, we don't have a coach that can produce that kind of planning.

I am not sure if JVG knows how to run an offense in the NBA, let alone Princeton offense which requires Kings-like talents in all 5 positions in order to run it smoothly.

even at hofstra we teach the team that one defender can't take two sides of a post player away. if yao is being fronted then either go for the lob, or pass the ball to the player who has a better angle to get it to yao.

thats why the lakers got the ball to shaq with ease. if shaq was fronted and the ball was on the wing, they would pass the ball to the top then fire a pass right into shaq who had his man sealed away from the basket.

The Rockets have no player who is good at getting the ball into the paint. JJ? Sura at some point?

I was a fan of getting Horry for just that simple reason - he seems to be perfect at getting the ball into the block.

Boki is the best post passer on the team.....but JVG hates him for some reason.

I don't understand why the guy is not playing...I mean Ryan Fricken Bowen.

    I HATE JVG !!
