That's not all that is holding us back. Sure, we're a great team, and I'll agree that right now we'll go further in the playoffs than last year. But one thing we're still sorely lacking is a good ball-handler (who's not named T-MAC) who can make the passes to Yao. True, Yao is out of position a lot, but I've seen MANY times that Yao has position in the post, and our guards can't get him the ball. So I guess that means a "true" PG, though I'm not going to say that. I don't care as much about a PG as I do someone being able to pass the ball in to Yao. And just FYI, Steve Francis has been a fav of mine since college, but he couldn't do it either. We've lacked that passer for years now.
Your telling me Mooch is better than any of the players I suggested? Hell Brevin Night avg almost as many ast as Tmac and Sura put together in half the time. It would be nice to add a good young PG in the very likely case Sura goes down with an injury. Not to mention if we are really going to do a 2 for 1 deal as Doc suggestted then I would prefer to get a good young PG now and use the 2 for 1 to get a proven 2/3 type player.
What i dont understand about some of the posters on this board is that many people say we need pg speed and a true ballhandler, but when Brevin knight is brought up, he cant shoot. When they talk about being more atheletic at the 2/3 (depends on where McGrady plays) and guys like Wallace are brought up, he cant hit the 3 either. So ask, whats wrong with a guy who can run the offense smoothly, always stay in front of his man, never to's the ball and another guy who goes to the rack, defends like crazy and is only 23? For the money or the assets we have, that may be all we can get. Its nothing wrong with Wallace being a slashing type guy with Barry the Sharpshooter playing behind him. Its nothing with letting a guy like Knight set everyone up and control the ball and with a scorer like James behind him.
Finley was waived! Someone tell me why we can't pursue Finley? Isn't he still getting paid by the Mavs anyways?
I like the Baxter move. he'll add a lot of grunt off the bench. i gotta feeling, his gonna be a heck of a rebounder. his game to me is the exact replica of Jerome williams. just alot younger.
I think Dan Dickau is a better true point guard than anyone we have on the roster now. He really impressed me last season. A good playmaker with a nice shot-good team player.
Uh no. Players waived under the rule cannot double dip. Much of his salary would go back to the Mavs. The offer barely effects the overall payment total. The Mavs are hoping Finley signs for big bucks somewhere!
