What do YOU think?
What an idiot. I haven't heard people being called racist for criticizing Obama unless they were calling him a scary Socialist Muslim terrorist sympathizing racist who's out to get white people.
This one deserves my loldog, but I will refrain for now. So far, I have not heard a single person say that criticism of Obama is racist. I have heard a bunch of wingers CLAIM that criticism of Obama is being branded as racist, but that just looks like a bunch of hooey right now. Can anyone find a clip or quote of anyone (other than the wingers) saying that criticism of Obama is racist?
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/UiFvpVDQTHs&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/UiFvpVDQTHs&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object> around 5:10 in the video. The discussion is about the people at the town hall meetings that have become such a youtube hit. I completely agree with Bill Maher.
I want to add the Alex Jones is full of ****. Nobody is calling someone a racist who "doesn't want to pay a carbon tax." It's pretty obvious to see who has a beef with Obama's policies and who just hates the guy for other reasons (race being one). Go to one of those tea parties and you will find a ton of people who "want their country back" or are "tired of losing their rights" yet you never heard a peep from them before election day. Also, ask them specifically what issues they are there for and you will get a collection of vague statements, lies, propaganda or flat out racist comments. What is funny is that the left is not mentioning race nearly as much as they they could/should precisely because of people like Alex Jones who are going to claim that the left is trying to stifle free speech by calling people like him racists. So now we have a bunch of people on the right pretending to be called racists and pretending to be mad about it.
That's not somebody saying that criticism of Obama is racist. That's somebody conjecturing about the motives behind the actions of a specific group of people who happen to be criticizing the president. There is an important distinction there. (I know you're not agreeing with the OP, I'm just saying that if the Maher clip is an example of what Jones is talking about, then Jones has a fundamental misunderstanding of what Maher is saying.)
I was responding to GladiatorRowdy's request for a link to someone who is not from the right actually saying they believe criticism of Obama is based on race. Maybe I misunderstood what he was asking for.
Yeah, I know what you were doing. And I'm saying I don't think that link applies. GaldiatoRowdy actually asked for evidence of people saying, "criticism of Obama is racist". That's different than people saying that they believe criticism of Obama is based on race. That's my point. There is a difference between the discussion of criticism and race that is occurs in places such as Maher's show, and Jones' assertion that any criticism of Obama is deemed to be racist.
Coming from a conservative, that guy is a nut job. There is a way to criticize and there is a way to insult. You can say obama is a socialist media created celebrity or you could say he is black. The former is not racist; the latter yes.
Being called what you are isn't racist. Not wanting someone to succeed and making up arguments to defeat someone because they are something is racist.
Do you have the smallest idea what Alex Jones is talking about?? He is talking about a video he posted on YouTube the infamous Obama The Joker poster that you seen around by now. It was top ranked till YouTube decided to flag it because several users founded "racist" but, tell me where in the video is Alex racial? Here's the original video. Take a look <object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/It3D-Tfj4zc&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/It3D-Tfj4zc&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object> No I'm not one his best fans either nor I'm one of his daily listeners but, there is logical sense in his words to start wondering what's really going on. Whatever happened to "freedom of speech?" Just because it's Alex Jones the guy that nobody want's to respect for your non-sense reasons. DOES NOT take away from him or anybody posting a video online and saying how he/she feels with this Obama FAILING agenda. He encourages people to get more involved in politics and research your OWN. STOP letting mainstream media news feed you what they want you to know. If you're wise enough you'll figure out why they had Obama as the joker. What's so racist?
It would help if you put the context in the original post instead of waiting until people commented to the best of their knowledge about the content of what was there. Wait, if it's on YouTube right now, how was it censored? Because the Joker is an anarchist which is the opposite of what Obama is accused of being? I didn't watch the whole 10 minutes, but I personally don't see it as racist. Still, how does one make the leap from some YouTube commenters claiming something is racist to "the system" saying any criticism of Obama is racist? The comment section of any website is a horrible place to get examples of rational thought.
Your request is impossible. By your own definition, anybody who disagrees with you is automatically a "winger." This is the liberal "winger" playbook -- demonize anybody who disagrees with you. No wonder only a few moderate to conservatives posters here ever bother to come here. There's no sense in getting into a shouting match, uh, discussion when one side or the other considers themselves absolutely right and the opposing side absolutely wrong.
