If there was a draft today and you could pick up any current player, who do you pick number 1?

Taking age into consideration, I think Philip Rivers is the one and only answer to this question.

    QB - Peyton Manning
    RB - Jones-Drew
    WR - Andre Johnson

I still think MJD is the best running back in the league.

Does more with a terrible line and is really good receiving as well. Underrated blocking.

I can't justify taking a WR here....however great Andre and Calvin are. Same applies to every defensive player with the possible exception of Ndamukong Suh. And as much as I hate to say it, Manning has to be given serious consideration. Out of the RB's, Chris Johnson would be my guy.
Obviously you want touches, impact, longevity, etc. With Manning and good protection a franchise gets 12 - 15 years, a coach/leader on the field, and great player.(plus marketability/identity of a franchise) I'd have to give him the edge over the spectacular Johnson.
But in the final analysis it is Suh who I would likely take. This guy might very well be on his way to becoming the best ever at his position. When a NT can control games the way he does....blowing up the middle and stopping the run, getting incredible penetration, jacking QB's.....I mean THIS is the player you build championship defenses around. Perhaps not the most popular pick but the one you win the most titles with IMO. (assuming health and longevity)

I'll go with Tom Brady who can win in the post season with receivers like Deion Branch and David Givens, guys who clearly struggled to earn a pay check elsewhere. Manning is a tremendous a QB but he has been gifted with some great receivers over the years with Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne. This year Indy's mediocre receivers are showing that even Manning can struggle without his usual top-tier of talent. On the flipside Brady okayed the move get rid of his top receiver Moss and work with Welker and a handful of no-names to produce the top scoring offense in the league. That to me is the primary reason Brady deserves more praise. He worked most of his career with scrub receivers and when he finally got a chance with a superstar like Moss, he shattered every single season record out there. Now he is back to throwing to rookies like Gronkowski and other low-profile receivers. The difference, Brady can still win with scrubs and fillers while Manning is having a bad season throwing 7 interceptions in 2 weeks.

If youth is a consideration I have to go with Rivers or CJ...Foster isn't time tested. Suh was an interesting idea..but like Foster he hasn't proven he is in it for the long haul.

CJ and Rivers are just monster, proven, young production from the most important positions on the field.

(I would probably take a 22 year old Peyton over all...I believe Brady is partially a product of that GREAT organization.)

But a 22 year old Peyton was a horrible QB. Unless you mean a Young Peyton with older Peyton skills.

I'd still go Peyton. He's probaly got another 5 years. QB's trump all my next choices would be Rivers,Brady, Brees........
2nd round pick I'd go best corner available.
    3rd. Best WR available.
    4th Best OL available
than start loading up on defense..........

It would be a while before I'd draft a running back..
